Simple Almond Lychee dessert for the family

MANILA, Philippines — Dessert does not have to be complicated to be both enjoyable and impressive. Sometimes it is the simplest desserts that make the most satisfying meal-enders.
In the case of celebrity chef Jackie Ang Po, who is easily one of the most talented and sought-after Filipino pastry chefs, she can whip up the most exciting cakes, pastries, and other confections and desserts, but she caters more to the simple cravings of her family, friends, and clients.
Just recently, her husband Mitch craved for Almond Pudding with Lychees, and she happily obliged. She shares the recipe of her creamier version of Almond Pudding, which she simply calls Creamy Almond Lychee. It’s easy to make and the family will surely enjoy it.
Creamy Almond Lychee
Ingredients:
1 pack Nestlé All Purpose Cream
1 1/2 cups Nestlé Fresh Milk
3/4 cup Carnation Condensada
2 tbsps. gulaman, plain*
2 tsps. almond flavoring
Canned lychees
Lychee syrup
Ice
Procedure:
1. Mix together Nestlé Fresh Milk, Carnation Condensada, gulaman, and almond flavoring. Place in a saucepan and bring to a simmer.
2. Add Nestlé All Purpose Cream and simmer until it melts.
3. Pour into molds or dessert cups to set.
4. Once lychee gulaman sets, top with lychees, lychee syrup, and ice. Enjoy!
5. If using gelatin instead of gulaman (*the two, gulaman and gelatin, are different and have their own uses), the method of preparing this dessert has to be changed. First, mix together 2 tbsps. gelatin and 1/2 cup Nestlé Fresh Milk. In a saucepan, combine 1 cup Nestlé Fresh Milk, Carnation Condensada, and almond flavoring, and bring to a simmer. Add the gelatin-milk mixture to the saucepan with the heated milk-condensada-and-almond flavoring mixture and stir until dissolved. Then add Nestlé All Purpose Cream. Chill until set. To serve, top with lychees, lychee syrup, and ice.
