A taste of authentic Spanish food in Manila

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines- The Filipino culture is heavily influenced by the Spanish culture.

This is not surprising at all as Spain is the Philippines' longest colonial master. Food is one of Spain's influences in the Philippines.

Filipinos love to eat, especially if that tasty, saucy main course goes with steaming rice.

The Spanish restaurant Barcino Wine Resto Bar recognizes this, so they offer dishes that will surely fill one's craving for that Spanish-inspired cuisine —with a glass of wine that perfectly matches the food.

Barcino offers a variety of paella.

One of these is  popular Paella Negra, a blackened rice with squid ink and calamares.

Another is Paella de Marisco, a paella dish which seafood lovers will surely enjoy.

Of course, vegetarians are not forgotten! Barcino also serves Paella de Verduras, a vegetarian take on the classic Spanish paella.

Don't know if you want pork or chicken paella? No problem, they have Paella de Gallina y Cerdo, a paella dish with chicken breast and pork chunks.

If you're craving for pica pica while chatting with friends, they also serve a number of those.

They have the traditiional Calamares a la Romana which was made special with their alioli sauce.

Mushroom is given a different twist with this Croquetas Setas, which is creamy under the crunchy layer.

Want something that goes well with a beer or wine? Then maybe the spicy Chorizo Picante Frito will entice you.

If usual is boring, then try the Gulas al Ajillo, a dish with baby eel sautéed in garlic, chillies, and olive oil.

Barcino Wine Resto Bar has branches in Alabang, Ortigas, The Fort, Rockwell, Greenbelt 2, Greenbelt 5, and SM Aura.
