AHA's Master Chef Series presents Fil-Am chef Michael Ty

MANILA, Philippines - The American Hospitality Academy (AHA) Philippines raised the bar again this year for its Master Chef Series as it brought to the country Filipino-American chef Michael Ty, president of the American Culinary Federation.

The Master Chef series is a program that complements the skills of AHA Philippines’ students via international methods, techniques, global best practices, and culinary secrets by prominent international chefs.

 Born of Chinese parents in Manila, chef Ty spent his childhood in the Philippines before immigrating to the US. One of the highlights of his career was when he became the executive chef and food director of Caesar Palace Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. In 2009, he was elected president of the prestigious American Culinary Federation.

academy’s students to develop their skills and competencies in the field of culinary arts.

An in-house contest was also held titled “Be Like Mike Contest,” patterned after the Be Like Mike Contest organized by ACF.

Chef Ty, assisted by the Be Like Mike current winner Trisha Le Blanc, presented a cooking demonstration featuring three sumptuous dishes — Maine lobster corn dog dipped with whole grain aioli, chicken arugula ginger lumpia salad, and jumbo prawn with crusted pistachio chicken breast.

Master chefs who have graced the kitchen laboratories of the Philippines include chef Susina Jooste of South Africa; chef Hubertus Cramer of Germany; chef Micheal Caffrey of London; and celebrity chef Toba Garrett of New York.
