O'sonho: Peri peri good!

RAVIN' FACTS - Jennifer Ong -

Behold the perfect piece of meat — tender, melting in the mouth, pleasurable, and every bit devour-worthy. I have always liked my pork to be full of flavor. To be worthy of indulgence, it can’t just taste like ordinary barbecue. It has to be so good that the thought of it haunts me. To this day, just thinking about O’sonho’s coffee marinated roast pork makes me blush.

O’sonho’s coffee marinated roast pork boasts succulent meat with a tasty note of coffee on the palate. It is served with some dreamy slathering of whipped sweet potatoes and together they form a unique comfort food. Meanwhile, the restaurant’s Portuguese baby back ribs are also as succulent and addictive. They’re worth a try if you really want to rib it up.

They herb it: Peixe en tomate is fresh poached fillet in herbs and spices, served with roasted tomatoes and olive oil.

For the past three years, O’sonho has given us extremely gratifying Portuguese-style cooking, which always manages to look like it came right out of a loving mother’s kitchen. For one thing, one of O’sonho’s newest entrées, the peri peri lechon, was inspired by the baptism of owners Nik and Cris Barancik’s firstborn Brandon. Soon, as they served it, orders kept coming. And today, you can feast on the restaurant’s peri peri lechon anytime, just make sure to order one day in advance. Or why not try O’sonho’s tenderloin steak, jeera meera masala, whole roast peri peri chicken, lamb with Parmesan crusted eggplant, and Madeira beef shank?

For something lighter and equally sumptuous, try O’sonho’s new peixe en tomate, fresh poached fillet in herbs and spices, served with roasted tomatoes and olive oil. Then there’s the fish fillet in saffron broth, salmon, sea bass, barramundi, bacalhau portuguesa and bacalhau de O’sonho. And of course, don’t forget to have the paella de frutos do mar or seafood paella.

Rib and let rib: O’sonho’s Portuguese baby back ribs are succulent and addictive.

Meanwhile, dessert is simply dreamy at O’sonho. Try their newest coffee jelly or have a myriad of pastries. There’s O’sonho’s almond sans rival, java Toblerone mousse, lemon walnut torte, chocolate ganache and tres leches. And you might want to try O’sonho’s sorvete frito or fried ice cream. End your meal with some gourmet Malongo coffee, served in selected gourmet restaurants, including O’sonho.

When you come to O’sonho, you must be ready to indulge!
