WOFEX 2008:  What's cooking in the food business?

-

They say that the food business is one enterprise that can never go wrong.  After all, everyone has to eat.  Almost every day, restaurants and food shops mushroom not only in Metro Manila but in the progress-driven communities all over the country. And that does not even include the neighborhood carinderia and the ubiquitous corporate staple fondly called jollijeeps. Whether these be franchises or stand alone ventures, food is one commodity that will always be in prime demand.

Yet many a successful food businessman will tell you that one cannot sit in the kitchen and rest on yesterday's leftovers. It is important to maintain that success by constant innovation to keep up with the evolving market and industry trends.

That's why the World Food Expo or WOFEX has proven to be one of the best ingredients in maintaining a successful food enterprise.  Boasting of a track record of excellence showcasing over 1,000 exhibition booths, with total trade visitors numbering 53,658 in 2007, WOFEX returns this year at the World Trade Center in Manila

From August 6-9, WOFEX 2008 will feature a wide range of  F&B suppliers from industrial refrigeration, meat forming machine, smokehouses, point of sale systems, warehousing solutions, food additives, bakery ingredients, specialty drinks, chefs accessories, packaging supplies, vending equipment, buffet ware, bar tools, syrups, and dairy products amongst over a thousand product display.  It is THE food event of the year, anticipated by food processors, manufacturers, hoteliers, supermarkets, owners, growers, government institutions, and all others in the foodservice industry.  Documented on-site and future sales as a result of last year's expo reached over P485,843,256.00.

WOFEX is the trade event that has proven its effectivity since its inception seven years ago with repeat exhibitors and increasing number of participants.  This year, WOFEX 2008 will stage a much bigger event with 20 technical sessions simultaneously conducted per day; 12 workshops/demos which will take place back-to-back and over 15,000 product displays, both local and foreign.

Included in the roster of participant this year are Metrokitchenware, the exclusive distributor of cookware for noted brands Sunnex, Tristan Classics, and Kinox amongst many others; footwear extraordinaire Crocs, who will showcase their Batali edition which honors celebrated Iron Chef Mario Batali; Mathia Trading, the only professional hygiene cleaning system company that combines efficiency and ergonomics, safety and designs and which imports and distributes the #1 brand, Vikan; and Prosspack, the supplier of a wide range of processing and packaging machineries for industries across all types and sizes.

Supporters of WOFEX 2008 include Food Caterers Association of the Philippines (FCAP), Hotel and Restaurants Chefs Association of the Philippines (HRCAP), Philippine Amalgamated Supermarkets Association of the Philippines (PAG-ASA), Philippine Association of Supermarkets (PASI), Philippine Association of Meat Processors (PAMPI), Office of Muslim Affairs, National Dairy Authority, Hotel & Restaurant Association of the Philippines (HRAP), Food Exporters of the Philippines (FEOP), Philippine Bartenders League (PBL), Davao Tourism Association, Rotary Club of Boracay, Bacolod Bakers Association (BACNOVA), Food Processors of Davao, Iloilo Hotel & Restaurant Association, and the Gensan Tuna Canners amongst others.
