Star Dream Girl: Katrina Suarez
May 31, 2004 | 12:00am
She may look a Middle Eastern or Indian beauty but 22-year-old Katrina "Chicho" Suarez is every inch a Filipina.
Chicho is a Restaurant and Business Management graduate of Le Cordon Bleu in Australia. She also earned a three-year Hotel Management certificate at the Les Roches in Switzerland.
Back in the Philippines, Chicho is a freelance graphic design artist who does print ads, posters and invites. She also works with PR and advertising firms. Though doing things seemingly far from what she learned in school, Chicho finds fulfillment in her profession and considers it challenging.
"Im happy when I come up with ideas and am able to put them together," says Chicho. "Im also content when I meet my clients expectations."
As an artist, Chicho finds inspiration in magazines, things she has watched on TV or in the movies, scenes from nature and even meetings with her friends.
As for a business venture, Chicho says, "That would be in the future. Having a business takes a lot of work and attention. Its demanding. Im in a phase of my life where I want to try new things and explore."
Chicho is a health buff who religiously does yoga everyday. "It helps me go about my personal dealings and my life on a bigger scale," Chicho says of yoga.
"Living abroad is a humbling experience,"ends Chicho. "I have become independent and responsible. It was an eye-opener; it helped me appreciate my country, family and friends even more." Jerry Donato
