MANILA, Philippines — Fellow Southeast Asian country Singapore is the top international destination for Filipinos during the first half of 2023, according to data collected by online booking website Agoda.

Following Singapore were Hong Kong and the Thai capital Bangkok, which was also the top international overall for Agoda users, according to data recorded from January to June this year.

Rounding off the Top 5 international spots for Filipinos were Seoul and Tokyo, the capital cities of South Korea and Japan, respectively.

Singapore and Seoul also figured in Agoda's top international destinations in second and third, respectively, followed by the Vietnamese city of Ho Chi Minh and the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.

"Many factors contribute to the popularity of Southeast Asian cities," said Agoda executive Andrew Smith in a statement, citing the metropolises' rich culture, history, culinary scene and nightlife. "Even with airlines expanding their routes and fleets, I wouldn’t be surprised if we’ll see these amazing destinations ranking high for years to come."

Agoda also presented data for the top domestic destinations, where Manila led over cities outside Luzon. The other top Philippine domestic destinations are Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, and the province of Aklan (likely because of tourist haven Boracay island).
