'MasterChef PH' alumna joins returning 'MasterChef Asia'
MANILA, Philippines — Regional cooking game show "MasterChef Asia" is making a comeback after a decade and a Filipina is among those vying for the culinary crown.
Chef Ivory Yat, a caterer and third-placer on the first season of "MasterChef Pinoy Edition," is one of 10 contestants competing in the series premiering on HBO Max, TLC, and the Discovery Channel.
The other contestants are Khanh Ong, Sahadol "Pond" Tantrapim, Marcus Low, Areum Yoon, Nambie Jessica Marak, Audrey Wicksana, Therese Lum, Mime Kataniwa, and Sandy Tang. These contestants represent the other international "MasterChef" competitions.
Chefs Edward Lee, "Pam" Pichaya S., and Kelvin Cheung serve as main judges, while guest judges include Mark Wiens, Chefs Ken Chong and Julien Tongourian, and Filipina culinary content creator Abi Marquez.
The new "MasterChef Asia" was shot in and around Macao — a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy — as challenges were held in iconic local markets, Michelin-starred restaurants, and an exclusive kitchen.
The 10-episode show premieres on HBO Max and TLC this September 22 and on Discovery Channel the following day.
