Yee sang salad and bak kut teh for Chinese New Year at Sofitel

MANILA, Philippines - Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila executive chef Chee Wah Mok prepares a special Chinese New Year menu until Feb. 24 at Spiral.

For starters, there’s yee sang salad (Chinese raw fish salad) and the eight-treasure fish lip soup. At the wok station, sample the wok-fried scallop with XO chili sauce, wok-fried sparerib with golden garlic Cantonese style. Over at the noodle station, indulge in bak kut teh noodle soup with roasted Peking duck. Desserts include warm sweetened coconut milk with sweet potato and warm papaya white fungus soup. A fashion show featuring the Orient Express collection of Dubai-based designer Albert Andrada will be held on Feb. 10 brunch.

Brunch rate set is at P2,950+++ for adults and P1,500+++ for children aged four to 11. Promo is offered on Feb. 10, 17 and 24. Dinner rate set is at P2,750+++ for adults and P1,350+++ on Feb. 9 and 10.

Special buffet spread for Year of the Snake at Acacia Hotel

Acacia Hotel Manila offers its Year of the Snake buffet spread at Acaci. Dishes include hot and sour soup, dim sum such as siomai, siopao, vegetable dumplings, hakaw, chicken feet and pork spareribs. Ensure longevity with dishes at the Noodle Station and choose from egg noodles, bihon, hopan, lomi, or sotanghon. Main dishes include deep-fried spare ribs king dao-style, sautéed scallops with shrimp and pine nuts, steamed lapu-lapu fillet, braised bean curd with assorted mushrooms, Chinese deep-fried chicken with chili garlic sauce, and yang chow fried rice. For dessert there is mango and sago with syrup and crushed ice, and fried tikoy. Pair the sumptuous feast with unlimited soda, iced tea, and pandan juice. The Chinese Food Fest is from Feb. 10 to Feb. 15. Buffet rates are P1,488 per person on Feb. 10 and P995 per person on Feb. 11-15 for lunch or dinner at Acaci.

Traditional oriental fare at Dusit Thani

 Dusit Thani Manila offers a feast of traditional oriental fare. At Basix All-Day Dining Restaurant, lunch and dinner buffets are offered today until Feb. 10. The buffet spread includes Chinese and Asian dishes such as assorted dim sum, noodle soup and appetizers. Savor the Singaporean braised duck, pork and chicken with tofu and eggs at the Chinese carving station. Also offered for guests to enjoy are servings of Hainanese chicken rice with traditional condiments, chili crab, sambal fried mussels, fried Hokkien mee, and more.  Basix also offers red envelopes filled with luck, and tokens such as chocolate coins, fortune cookies and kiat kiat mandarin oranges.
