FROM COFFEE TO COCKTAILS - Celine Lopez -

It’s ironic that the sexy, silky, much-coveted negligee is related to that forgetful little word, “neglect.” In the days when corseted women found silent refuge — not to mention room to breathe in — these silky undergarments has evolved from being a symbol of lust to a statement made by an independent woman.

Sleeping in a negligee as much fun as going out, with the proper accoutrements such as an engaging book, chamomile tea, rose-scented body lotion (I swear by Annick Goutal) and maybe a sexy eye mask. My journey into sleep used to be a painful one since I was a platinum-level insomniac. I used old ratty T-shirts and sweatpants to plaintively try to drift off to dream land. My mother once said, that if you travel, one must dress very well to make the journey more pleasant. I guess this does not exclude sleep.

Now that I’ve appreciated the voyage to sleep in style, waking up is no longer jarring and the first thing you smell are the roses and the hint of chamomile left in your mug.

No more rude awakenings when you find yourself rousing and greeting the new day in ombre silk pajamas or beaded kaftans. It’s a glamorous luxury you can use to spoil yourself or share with someone you love.
