The cool's out for summer

KISS ASS - Ana G. Kalaw -

Summer brings out our inner kid, which is probably why we all like it so much. As soon as April hits, we don’t mind getting sand in our underwear, we start walking barefoot, we eat more ice cream. We even deck ourselves out in neon.

As the sun shines a little bit brighter and smiles become toothier, make sure you’re equipped with the right gear and the right attitude.

Essential #1: Sunnies

Ray-Ban has been the official sunglasses of summer ever since people realized that looking directly into the sun was nobody’s idea of a smashing fun time. Summer 2010 is no different. This season, the classic Wayfarer and Clubmaster styles take on some funky designs. Limited-edition only (i.e. thinking twice before buying is just a waste of time).

Essential #2: Documentation

Just like Ray-Ban, Canon is an official must-have for summer ’10. The Ixus 130 IS, despite its slim width, packs a 14.1 megapixel count. Available in popsicle colors, it gives another view of summer escapades with fish-eye and miniature effects.

Essential #3: A kaleidoscope of color

At least, center it on a single accessory, like a fully-beaded sandal or a rubber watch that you can take to water and sand and not have to worry about a diminished ROI.

Essential 4: An activity

Preferably outdoors and away from a game console. Try wakeboarding. Social networking might just take on a new, healthier meaning.

Essential 5: Protection

Whatever you heard about SPF is most probably true — except the part about it being unnecessary on cloudy days. Shade yourself even more from high-30s temps with a trilby (the ultimate hipster signature) and dark-tint shades.
