Maquillage   makeover

AT LIBERTY - Jackie Cohen-Antonio -

Admit it. Haven’t you ever wanted to play Cher from Clueless in real life by giving someone so deserving a much-needed makeover? Or were you ever on the receiving end, privy to repackaging? So when we announced that YStyle and YSL were awarding beauty makeovers to a few lucky readers who e-mailed in, we were bombarded with responses.

Four lucky winners nabbed the opportunity to be made over by visiting French makeup maven Philippe of YSL.

An avid taekwando enthusiast, Shela Escarnuela has only worn makeup five times in her entire young life. Rattling off the precious few times, we noticed they were only for major occasions like prom, debut, graduation, school defense and at the YSL makeover. Shela didn’t even know how to apply lipstick! Philippe whipped up a natural look for her and taught her how to make her pout shine with a hint of gloss. Primped and pretty, she left the counter to attend a graduation party and a family reunion prompting compliments from her cousin and boyfriend. Happy with the outcome, Shela feels confident and no longer like the high school student her friends always tease her to be.

Grace Autea knows how to apply makeup as she normally wears some to school and when she goes out. Philippe played up her eyes, creating a new aura for her as Grace normally focuses on her lips. Choosing colors that complement her skin tone and shade of reddish hair, a fresh green hue was selected from the YSL Spring collection. Grace scored great comments from her chums while meeting up with them over coffee.

Philippe spiced-up already-spunky Sandy Santo Domingo’s look. Sandy loves to tinker about with makeup and applying some is part of her daily morning routine. Philippe showed her how to pull off a dramatic look, lending her the oomph she was looking for by enhancing her eyelids with a darker shade of eyeshadow than what she was accustomed to. Out and about at Megamall with her gal pals until closing, Sandy’s new look turned some heads.

Smart gal Crissy Martinez wears just a dash of neutral makeup on occasion and jumped at the opportunity to see what other colors work for her.  With this freedom, Philippe gave her smoky eyes in violet and lavender tones with dramatic electric blue-tinted mascara on the lashes. Pleasantly surprised with the outcome, both Crissy and her family welcomed the refreshing change.

Voila! A few strokes of the brush and swipes of the YSL wand can transform visages and transcend cultures. Enhance your features with just a tad bit of makeup and make this world a more beautiful place.
