A bar above the rest

OH YES, IT'S JOHNNY! - Johnny Litton - The Philippine Star

Known for being a business hub and its wide array of gastronomic destinations, the Capitol Commons area in Pasig City continues to be a favorite of anyone out to experience an epic culinary journey.  Numerous bars and restaurants abound but the Tipsy Pig Gastropub is a cut above the rest.  The Tipsy Pig is a brainchild of a brilliant 15-man group of talented architects, creative chefs and business mavens who wanted to create a difference in the dining scene today. Seen at the soft opening were Muebles Italiano president and CEO Noel Gonzales and son Ton, Sonny Tanchanco, Dr. Ferjenel Biron with his wife Candy, and Ilocos Sur representative Ronald Singson.  Everyone enjoyed a taste of the crunchy and savory Belly Good Sisig Taco, the tasty Vineyard Pizza, Tipsy Burger, pulled pork slider, beer can chicken, chips and signature cocktails such as the fruity and creamy treat Bobbing for Berry and the crowd-favorite Salted Caramel Beer.  Tipsy Pig is located at Capitol Commons, Meralco Ave. corner Shaw Blvd., Pasig City. For more information, call 570-4620.

A bond between two nations

To further strengthen the trade ties between the Philippines and the United Kingdom, a welcome luncheon was hosted by the professional services firm Manabat Sanagustin & Co., CPAs (MS&Co.) for British Ambassador Asif Ahmad at the Tower Club in Makati City. The notable affair was attended by MS&Co. top executives chairman and CEO Roberto Manabat and COO and vice chairman for tax Emmanuel Bonoan as well as financial industry leaders and members of the British community here in the country. During the luncheon, ambassador Ahmad acknowledged the important role of MS&Co. and its mother company KPMG International in ensuring that UK businesses are properly set up in the Philippines and receive the right advice in all aspects of doing business in the country.

Bowled over by ramen

Now, Manilans can have a taste of what Filipino residents and tourists in Hong Kong have been raving about — Ramen Nagi, as the first Philippine branch recently opened on the fifth floor of SM Aura Premier at Bonifacio Global City.  Born out of the vision of ramen master Satoshi Ikuta in Tokyo, the Ramen Nagi chain has branches all over Asia—Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Indonesia.  Enjoy the famous mouthwatering, full-bodied soup base filled with millimeter-thin noodle strands that come in an assortment of flavors made possible with a blend of fresh herbs, aromatic spices and seasonings imported from Japan.  Diners can customize their ramen to their liking using their innovative Omotenashi sheet.   The 82-seater restaurant is just the first of the Ramen Nagi chain in the country.  Ramen Nagi’s Philippine franchise partners Winnie C. Go, Michael James Chua, Carissa Coscolluela, Roxanne Farillas, Enti Coscolluela, Avi Siy-Coscolluela, and Erickson Farillas are all too happy with their latest venture.  In fact, a second branch is set to open in the next few months at SM Mall of Asia.
