Betcha Vaio, golly wow!
We live in such interesting, pixilated times.
There is this tug-of-war between the offline and the online world, and we are right smack center of the action. Between facing your books and your Facebook, which would you choose? These days, the term “notebook” has ceased to be associated with paper, and everything is made to fit the palm of your hand, or within grasp of your clenched fist. Aside from our mobile phones, I know people who feel naked without their laptops. To borrow a phrase from a post pubescent Brooke Shields, “Nothing comes between me and my Calvins.”
Now that we are in a lipstick jungle era, we want it all. All sizes, shapes, and colors. Why settle for one when we can have it all? We are spoilt for choice, and that is a fact. The more our world becomes global, the more tribal we feel. We want to be enshrouded by categories, return to the boxes, our self-made cubicles where we can be alone, just us and our notebooks, typing away, tagging and poking each other, and starring in our own virtual reality show.
That word “virtual” used to sound so alien, so distant future. Nowadays, virtual can actually be felt. Tickled pink, blushing red, on a hue that feels bluer than blue, in somber black, light like white.
A few months back at the Teatrino stage, an endorsement ritual was held, a perfect meeting of the offline-online heads. Sony Vaio was choosing the guys and dolls who would carry their laptops with wired pride. Searches like these are not uncommon. Each season, brands and products scramble their heads to go through a multiple choice of peeps, finding that matching type of a connection between point A to B, and beyond.
“There is always one to suit your personality,” seems to be the constant sales pitch. Sounds cliché but it is the truth. Like the other cliché that your soul mate is just around the corner, and yet I still believe that it is the truth. That night, the individuals pictured below did find their soul mates, in the form of this must-have item otherwise known as the Sony Vaio. They’ve just been tagged.
