Summer-ready body in 42 days

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines- For several years now, Century Tuna Superbods is one of the most anticipated summer events in the country.

The competition led to the discovery of new swoon-worthy  models  who inspire many  to live a fit and healthy life.

These models however also become a source of insecurity, with many sighing “sana ganyan din ang katawan ko.”

So to take their campaign to a healthier life a step higher, Century Tuna has launched the website “My Road to Superbods” and the campaign “Century Superbod Super Challenge.”

General Manager of Century Pacific Food Inc. Greg Banzon said in the launch Thursday, February 20, that through the site, they want to tell the public that “that dream is actually doable.

“Our philosophy for this particular campaign, instead of the audience watching, looking at awe at all Superbods contestants, we want the general public to know what it would take to be a superbod. So we wanted to share the secret and prove that everybody could be a superbod.”

The website features a 42-day exercise and diet plan, prepared by fitness trainer Jim Saret, and renowned nutritionist Nadine Tengco.

Healthy Diet

Tengco discussed during the launch that the “diet meal” shouldn’t be “sad” or “boring,” contrary to the perception of many.

She added that she is a "fan" of rice,  which is one of the food items that people on a diet removes from their meal.  Instead,  she suggests “extenders” to people on a diet.

The “extenders” she’s referring to are chopped vegetables that you can mix to a 1/3 amount of rice, which is the ideal service size. She adds that it’s good to put yellow ginger in your rice to help in digestion and detoxifying.

Tengco said that people should try detox. Not everyone may know how to do their own detoxifying drink, but she says that by simply placing sliced lemons on your drink is a good detoxifying drink already.

She also recommends people to eat small portions of meal, four to five times a day—3 main meals which are the breakfast, lunch and dinner, and two snacks.

In the website, Tengco provided 150 recipes which the challengers could try for 42 days.  These recipes, she promised,  are something “colorful,” “delicious,” and most importantly “healthy.”

Body Weight Exercise

“The program we made is very exciting, very challenging and at the same time we guarantee that it’s going to work,” Jim Saret said, describing the 42-days workout plan that he prepared for the website.

The fitness coach said that these exercises are intended to encourage everyone to start their “journey” to living a healthier life.

He also promised that the participants wouldn’t need to spend on expensive gym equipment to be able to  workout for they will be doing a “body weight exercise", or exercises that use one's weight instead of using exercise equipment.

“Actually... we’re going backwards,” Saret said about body weight exercise. “We’re already switching to body weights. We’re switching back to basics. The Century Superbods Super Challenge program uses 90 percent of body weight.”

They even did a demo during the launch , calling on  members of the press to try four  exercises: jumping jacks, lunges, wall push-ups and squats.
