Asthmatic children get relief with Buteyko

MANILA, Philippines - Parents of asthmatic children know too well the difficulties in dealing with this chronic illness. Asthma is the world’s most common respiratory disease among children as it also affects more than 300 million people today. In the country, the last estimate placed six million children affected by asthma, not far from the approximately nine million asthmatic children in the United States.

But this condition cab be reversed, as clinical studies have shown, when adults and children learn how to breathe correctly through the Buteyko Method.

Over the years, the Buteyko Method has helped thousands of Filipinos, including scores of children, who find lifetime relief from asthma safely without using expensive prescription drugs and nebulizers.

“Buteyko Method allows a person to reduce his breathing pattern to normal levels by reducing chronic hyperventilation syndrome or CHVS,” says Jac Vidgen, an Australian senior Buteyko practitioner with 19 years of experience in teaching the method in the Philippines and other parts of the world.

Vidgen says over-breathing or hyperventilation is the root cause of asthma and other respiratory problems.

Buteyko has thus been found effective in relieving the so-called “lifestyle diseases” such as allergies (rhinitis or having excess mucus), panic attacks and anxiety disorder, snoring, sleep apnea and other sleep disorders, hay fever, coughing, immune and hormone imbalance, hypertension, and chronic fatigue syndrome.
