Crystal Clear joins fun run for breastfeeders
MANILA, Philippines - The old adage that mothers all over the world hold dear in their hearts still rings true: Breastfeeding is best for babies.
In celebration of the Breastfeeding Month of August, the “Mommy Milkshake Marathon Year 5” was recently held at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City. More than 400 parents and children joined the 3k and 5k fun run in support of the campaign advocating that “Breast is best.”
Knowing fully well that hydration is essential to the health of breastfeeding mothers, Crystal Clear Water joined the annual event by providing water stations for all the participants. The leading water-refilling company also educated the runners on the fundamentals of hydration with regard to breastfeeding.
The initial bond between a mother and her child starts during breastfeeding. That’s when a mother shows her love for her child, and when the child feels secure. However, there will be times when a mother’s milk supply becomes inadequate.
Instead of feeling frustrated and turning to formula milk, the mother can always increase her fluid intake. She can get water from many sources such as vegetables, fruit, soup, fruit and vegetable juices, milk and tea. Sodas and coffee can be water sources as well but not advisable for new mothers at this point.
The simplest, easiest, and best solution for increasing fluid intake is still water — pure and purified. On average, a nursing mother drinks at least eight glasses of eight ounces of water each day to provide for her hydration needs. She must drink between four and six glasses of water each day, which is considered to be enough. But in a tropical country like the Philippines, eight to 10 glasses are recommended particularly for breastfeeding moms. Drinking more water encourages the production of milk for mothers who feel they are not producing enough.
Of course, a new mom needs to balance her diet as well. Proper hydration should be complemented with proper nutrition. Even when she gets too busy with her maternal duties, she must not neglect to feed herself. After all, a healthy mother equals a healthy child.
Crystal Clear Water understands these motherly concerns. With more than 500 stations nationwide, stretching from Batanes to Tawi-Tawi, Crystal Clear Purified Drinking Water is safe and reliable.
