Some fats are oil right for your health

-

MANILA, Philippines - We all know that fats are bad and intake should be minimized if we don’t want to suffer from clogged arteries that may lead to our untimely death. However, this is not entirely true since some fats are, in fact, essential to our health and overall well-being.

Take, for example, fish oil, which contains the omega-3 fatty acids docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) that are now proven by numerous scientific studies to reduce inflammation and may help lower the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and arthritis.

Omega 3 was discovered about 30 years ago when researchers, doing a study of the Eskimos, found that despite eating so much fats (from eating seals and lots of fish), their rate of heart disease was still much lower than the rest of the population living elsewhere in the world. Scientists soon realized that the fatty fishes that Eskimos love to eat are loaded with omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA. These fatty acids have been found to lower blood cholesterol levels and increase HDL cholesterol, the good kind of cholesterol.

But many of the species of fish that produce the omega-3 DHA and EPA essential fatty acids are also the species that are most affected by pollution.

The Australian makers of Cenovis Fish Oil, the all-natural fish oil supplement, were able to solve this challenge by understanding and respecting nature, by primarily catching only small fishes that have a short life span, the danger of accumulating toxic substances is eliminated. They also only source their fishes exclusively from the Peruvian waters in the Pacific Ocean, using suppliers who operate under a system of careful government and industry controls regarding the management of ocean fish stocks in this region. Fishes caught wild in open waters feed on micro-algae, the original source of their omega-3 DHA and EPA essential fatty acids, whereas those raised in local fisheries lack these beneficial microorganisms in their diet, making them unsuitable candidates for fish oil extraction.
