Healthy lifestyle campaign for government employees

-

MANILA, Philippines - Good news for city employees. Here’s a chance to get rid of that bulge and lose all that unwanted body fat and excess blood sugar. The Parañaque City Health Office under Dr. Olga Virtusio has organized, on orders of Parañaque City Mayor Jun Bernabe, a weekly aerobic dance activity for city government personnel.

Slated every Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. at the city hall grounds, the aerobic sessions are in line with the city government’s healthy lifestyle campaign aimed at promoting good health practices among employees and residents as well as giving them an opportunity to exercise before starting the day’s task.

The dance exercise program consists of low-intensity exercises such as stretching, calisthenics, taebo, danxercise, and other activities designed to strengthen the muscles and build up the stamina and cardio vascular endurance. The project will also benefit employees in terms of stress relief, improved self-esteem, and sharp mental focus.

“No matter how busy we are, we should find time to exercise, which can yield both physical and mental benefits. By launching these aerobic classes, we urge our employees to make a change for the better by participating in these activities that promote good health,” says Mayor Bernabe.

The mayor adds that promoting good health practices is important for the city’s populace as it provides a sound environment that spells greater productivity, economic growth, and development.
