Steam technology protects kids from asthma attacks
Findings from the 2nd Asthma Insights and Reality in the Asia-Pacific Region (AIRAP) Study showed that about 12 percent of the Philippine population, including children and adults, suffer from asthma. “And yet many Filipinos suffering from asthma still do not take the necessary steps to completely control their condition.”
An important new development in support of clean and allergy-free lifestyle is the world’s first steam direct washer and dryer, an innovative technology that delicately removes allergens while cleaning more deeply and efficiently. It was developed by LG Electronics in line with its commitment to develop health-conscious products.
According to Jeff Hong, president and chief executive officer of LG Electronics Philippines, the LG steam direct washer and dryer has been engineered to cater to the needs of those suffering from asthma, allergies, and much more.
“It automates the entire laundry process with the touch of a button, all the while operating at optimal temperatures to ensure the most hygienic wash and gentle, thorough dry,” he added.
The LG steam washer uses the innovative steam technology, which removes dirt and allergens off fabrics.
Steam cleans clothes better than water because its molecules are smaller so it penetrates more deeply into fibers. Also, the heat from the steam eliminates germs and other small parasites that live in textiles. The steam sprayed onto garments during a wash cycle can reach temperatures as high as 95°C, thereby killing bacteria that may be present in the fabric. “Now, you can have less worries of allergic reactions occurring in your family,” Hong enthused.
The allergy care feature of this stylish and elegant washer has been approved by the British Allergy Foundation and Institute of Tokyo Environmental Allergy, which means that it has been proven to specifically restrict and remove high levels of allergens such as pollen, fungus, house mite, and bacillus, among others. According to the study conducted by these two reputable institutions, LG steam washer kills allergens 99 percent, compared to other washing machines which only removes 2.7 percent.
Besides its allergen-removing function, LG steam technology also efficiently takes the stress, wrinkle, and odor out of washable items. This combination of washer and dryer in one machine has direct drive motor, which drives the drum without a pulley and a driving belt. There are less-wearing parts, so the motor is more reliable, silent, and efficient.
On top of these advanced technologies, “the eco-friendly LG steam washer also offers plenty of space to wash clothes while consuming 21-percent less energy and 29-percent less water than other washing machines,” Hong stressed.
