Foodie fun at the Mega Food Hall

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Since the Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall’s game-changing new wing opened, it has become not only a fashion but also a foodie destination.  The Mega Food Hall on the fifth level has opened up a world of dining possibilities with its contemporary interiors and interesting food selections, which range from hearty American fare to Asian specialties to fusion fun food, not to mention new takes on desserts. It is the home of new concepts in the Philippines like the first branch of New York City’s famous Halal Guys.

Here are 11 reasons why you’ll love eating at the Mega Food Hall.

The Halal Guys: Having opened its first international location here, Halal Guys serves platters of delicious halal meat covered in their inimitable sauces. They offer the same New York menu that made them famous: rice platters as well as falafel, chicken, and gyro meat sandwiches with their iconic white and hot sauces.

Buffalo Wings at Frankie’s: These fresh, crispy Buffalo wings have just the right amount of spiciness and flavor. This New York-inspired restaurant also offers 11 different flavors; not to be missed are Garlic Parmesan and Hickory BBQ.

Chubby’s Rib Shack: Serving comfort food with bold flavors, great value and simplicity, this Southern-style American restaurant is a great place for meat lovers. Fall-off-the-bones Rib-lets come with a choice of BBQ sauces, Pulled Pork BBQ with Onion Rings top toast, and BBQ Chicken and Southern Fried Chicken are served with country gravy.

Cheese and Spices at Tex-Mex: This fusion of Texan and Mexican cuisines gives foodies the traditional taste of Tejano-styled dishes like nachos, quesadillas, and burritos with salsa. They also serve the famous Latin-style chicken, Mex-Pollo, which is perfect with chimichurri sauce that’s full of herbs and spices.

Thai Contempo at Nav: Nav Modern Thai cuisine offers authentic Thai recipes in a contemporary way by adapting it to the Filipino taste. Its imported and in-house ingredients make their bagoong rice, pad Thai and laksa outstanding.

Yakitori One: Specializing in grilled meats on sticks covered with their teriyaki-style Tare sauce and served with yakitori rice with dried seaweed and pickled ginger, Yakitori One’s selection of skewers includes chicken, pork, beef, and fish. It also offers Asparagus with Pork Wraps that is perfect for snacks.

SP Steaks and Paella: Serving Spanish-Filipino cuisines like beef salpicao with paella on a sizzling plate, it also lets people customize their meals by choosing which paella style, toppings, meat, and sauce to have.

Dojo Dairy: Serving smooth and creamy ice cream with Hokkaido milk in extraordinary flavors inspired by traditional Japanese dishes, their Black Sesame, Miso Sake, Seaweed, Blue Cheese, and Wasabi-flavored ice creams are excellent for adventurous palates.

Waffos: Golden, crispy and fresh waffles with sweet or savory fillings are folded like a taco. Some waffles are stuffed with a complete meal like bacon, eggs and lettuce, or make perfect desserts, like the gooey Belgian Chocolate with toasted marshmallows.

Sweetea’s by Da.u.de’s artisanal tea:  Da.u.de Tea Lounge by Renee Sebastian, a couture tea blender who mastered tea blending in different parts of the world, created Sweetea’s to brew organic tea and quality herbs with the fruit flavor of your choice.
