2012 World Master Chef Series at AHA Philippines

MANILA, Philippines - The American Hospitality Academy (AHA) Philippines recently brought well-respected and world-renowned guest master chefs Michael Ty and Christopher Neary to its AHA Master Chef Series. Chef Toba Garret is scheduled to be here in October.

The AHA Master Chef Series brings in master chefs from all over the world to train the academy’s students, instructors, and enthusiasts. 

Chef Michael Ty together with another noted chef from the US East Coast and President of the Long Island, New York Chapter of the ACF, Chef Christopher Neary, held master classes on classical cooking techniques and classical American fusion dishes for AHA Philippines students and chef instructors from August 1-4, 2012.

They also did a public cooking demonstration at the World Food Expo (WOFEX), SMX Convention Center.

Master Chef Toba Garrett is scheduled to do a repeat of her successful master classes in cake decorating and design in 2010 this October 1-5, 2012.

An icon in cake design, she is New York’s top cake designer and master-chef instructor of cake decorating and design at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City, a department she started more than 14 years ago. She will be doing courses on upscale cupcake design and creative cookie design, which are currently trending in New York City.

Chef Toba will be conducting courses on upscale cupcake and creative cookie design, which currently trending in New York . The courses are open to the public with limited slots. Schedule of classes, as follows:

"We instituted the AHA Philippines Master Chef series in 2006 to expose our students to a more global perspective in the study of culinary Arts. The wealth of experience that these master chefs bring to the AHA classroom is immeasurable. We cannot think of any other way to inspire and train our students to be world-class chefs but through these great chefs from all over the world," said Chef Gene Cordova, president and managing partner of AHA Philippines.

Since 2006, AHA Philippines has invited multi-awarded executive chefs for the AHA World Master Chef Series including Susina Jooste from South Africa in 2006 and 2007, Hubertus Cramer from Germany in 2006, Michael Caffrey from London in 2008, Toba Garrett from New York in 2010 and Micahel Ty from Las Vegas in 2011.

AHA Philippines recently passed the rigid accreditation process of the American Culinary Federation validating its culinary programs, facilities, teaching methodologies and faculty complement to be of the same standards of culinary schools in the US. Its program offerings include the 3-year Bachelor’s degree in International Culinary Management, 1 ½-year Associate Degree in International Culinary Arts, 6-month Diploma in Culinary Arts and the 8-month Diploma in Culinary Entrepreneurship.
