CCA Manila chef instructors ACF certified

MANILA, Philippines - CCA Manila, the premier school for culinary education in the country, adds another laurel of excellence to its already many recognitions and awards as its chef instructors are now officially certified culinary professionals by the prestigious American Culinary Federation (ACF), the first batch of chefs in the country to be conferred such by the largest and most prestigious culinary association in America.

CCA Manila’s academic programs manager, chef Melissa D. Sison was conferred the title of Certified Executive Chef (CEC) by the ACF delegation that visited the country, led by chefs Derek Spendlove, Don Dickinson and James Taylor. The ACF chefs personally supervised the examination at CCA Manila Katipunan campus. The other chef instructors who passed the certification process are chef Tim Abejuela (Certified Chef de Cuisine), chef Mira Cruz (Certified Chef de Cuisine), chef Jon Tin (Certified Chef de Cuisine), chef May Martinez (Certified Pastry Culinarian), chef Guia Angkaw (Certified Sous Chef), chef April Martinez (Certified Sous Chef), chef Carol Lavin (Certified Working Pastry Chef), and chef Anne Atanacio (Certified Working Pastry Chef).

ACF is the largest professional chefs organization in North America, with more than 22,000 members who belong to more than 225 chapters in four regions across the US. Sanctioned by the Council on Higher Education for Accreditation, ACF is the only organization to accredit culinary arts, baking and pastry programs in the US. The recent certification of some of CCA Manila’s chef instructors made the Philippines the only country outside the US (apart from Switzerland) to have the distinction of having the first US-certified certified chefs in the Philippines, where such move also distinguished CCA Manila as an accredited ACF test site for certification in the country.
