Sunnex time and the cooking is easy

JOYFUL HARVEST - Joy Angelica Subido, Joy Angelica Subido, Karla Alindahao -

You need to have the right tools. This is not a spatula; it’s a cooking wand for a warlock. This is not a bowl; it’s a cauldron of awesomeness!” said Charlie Sheen. And although the controversial American actor who has been embroiled in recent debacles is not exactly well known for his culinary prowess, he certainly is right. Using the proper tools in the kitchen adds to the likelihood of cooking better meals.

Take the case of Sunnex cookware, where better results are achieved with the high-quality 18/10 stainless steel bodies. “These have been engineered so that heat is evenly distributed throughout the pan,” says James Tan Sy associate director of LJS Group of Companies that distributes the quality kitchenware brand. “A high-impact bonded capsulated bottom ensures that food is cooked evenly, so that there is less danger of food being overcooked in some portions due to the fact that one side of the pan is hotter than the other. When cooking with Sunnex, it is easier to get good results.”

Sunnex pans are manufactured by Sunnex Products Limited, a Hong Kong-based company that has specialized in manufacturing catering and household items since 1972. As a member of the Sunbeam group whose history dates back to 1929, the company is committed to constantly developing and launching new and improved products for the household and catering trade. The adherence to excellent quality makes Sunnex products highly acceptable worldwide, so that 99 percent of production is exported to over 100 countries. In the Philippines, Sunnex initially launched its Chef’s Classics cookware line in April of 2007. This first series was named after celebrity chef Tristan Encarnacion who also endorsed the product.

This year, the good news for cooking aficionados and celebrity watchers is that a new collection named after another culinary personality has been launched. The series is named after erstwhile cooking show host chef Mitchie Sison who is known for adding a unique twist to familiar comfort food.

“I like to go with the flow and create recipes according to the availability of ingredients,” said chef Mitchie at a cooking demonstration using the new Sunnex cookware. “Cooking doesn’t have to be fussy and expensive,” she continues. “Our cookware has no days-off. We use it every day, so we might as well invest in quality cookware that can withstand use.”

The new Sunnex Chef’s Classics cookware named in her honor has a “more feminine design,” features tempered glass lids with vents, and incorporates silicon in knobs and handles. A riveted stainless steel die-cast handle with thick, silicon grip ensures that the cookware is not too hot to handle. The silicon grip is also oven-safe and will not react with food or produce hazardous fumes.

Chef Mitchie Sison is justifiably proud. She shares, “It is a dream come true to design my own cookware line.” The Mitchie Chef s Classics by Sunnex is a 13-piece set that includes a grill pan, wok, sauté pan with steamer, sauce pans, pots and skillets that are sleek enough to add distinction to any upscale kitchen. The line also includes indispensable kitchen accessories like a peppermill and an oil dispenser.
