Asian comfort food with a twist

- Abby Rebong -

MANILA, Philippines - The brainchild of a group of friends who wanted to put an old property to good use, Asian Twist restaurant became an instant hit among families, students, groups of friends, and young professionals who reside near the restaurant strip on Retiro, Banawe, and D. Tuazon in QC.

Faced with tough competition, Asian Twist served as a breath of fresh air by offering more than the usual Chinese dishes and fast-food staples.

With a menu consisting of the best of Asian comfort food, guests of the restaurant can be assured of a satisfying meal with each visit. Best-sellers are the crispy pork knuckle, Asian bento, Hong Kong chicken, classic bibimbap, and specialty sandwiches like the restaurant’s take on the clubhouse. Of course, their modest bakeshop has also turned out to be quite popular with a variety of pastries that guests can easily take home and enjoy.

Special Orders

In spite of its success, Asian Twist co-owner Mary Jane Serdanco shares that in order to keep up with the steep competition in the area,

they’ve come up with various promos as well as added services to offer to their customers. Given that Asian Twist has already become a regular hangout for a lot of families and groups of friends, they’ve come up with set menus that consist of Asian Twist best-sellers. For as low as P1,305, Asian Twist set menus give diners a fine selection of dishes including dessert for a truly enjoyable dining experience.

Good for five persons, Set A consists of french fries, grilled chicken a la crepe, tofu meatball soup, ginger pork, beef pot stew, seafood chapchae, jasmine Thai rice, and leche flan.

Choco eruption: The Twist Lava Cake is topped with vanilla ice cream.

Those in the mood to celebrate can check out Set E, which includes mandoo (Korean dumpling), stir-fried vegetables and tofu, seafood corn soup, crispy pork knuckle, grilled chicken crepe, classic chapchae, jasmine Thai rice, and special halo-halo.  Asian Twist’s set menus are perfect for graduation parties. Each set is inclusive of regular iced tea good for five persons.

Asian Twist has already set up two function rooms on the second floor of the restaurant which can be used for big celebrations and meetings. In fact, a lot of companies have already started reserving the space for special lunch meetings.

For P15,000 Asian Twist will spoil their guests with a more impressive Buffet Menu (there are five different buffet menu options available) as well as free use of amenities (wide screen, projector, laptop, sound system and your choice of either a chocolate fountain, cotton candy maker or ice cream cart). Each function room can accommodate up to 40 guests. For inquiries, just call the restaurant at 711-2248 or 559-1477.

Asian Twist is open to customizing the menu depending on the customer’s liking, but they have to be informed at least one week in advance.

What’s on the menu?

Hot and cold: Care for tempura ice cream?

If it’s your first time at Asian Twist, Mary Jane highly recommends the classic bibimbap , grilled chicken crepe (grilled chicken with white sauce and different types of cheese wrapped in a crepe), Japanese chicken curry, Thai chicken curry, Twist Lava Cake (super-soft molten chocolate cake served with ice cream), and the Hong Kong chicken is available in limited quantities per day.
