Oody's is for Thai goodies

-

MANILA, Philippines - Oody’s, that cozy Thai restaurant in Greenbelt 3, is frequented by food lovers who look for authentic and well- known Thai dishes.

The restaurant is extremely popular among expats from embassies.

Top favorite in Oody’s is the deep-fried chicken wrapped in pandan leaf. There are a variety of excellent salads on the menu, but many prefer the crispy catfish with mango salad, a wonderful combination of sour, sweet and spicy flavors. Grilled pork salad, a mixture of sliced warm pork, chili, lime and fish sauce is also a top hit.

Tiger prawns are stir-fried until crisp and served with chili, peppers, basil leaves and onions (gung phat ka prow). For fish lovers, the crispy mahi fish fillet is piquant and easy to eat, especially for foreigners used to fish lightly spiced and served with homemade red curry dip. One of the restaurant’s most popular dishes is seafood in yellow curry, a combination of prawns, squid and shellfish cooked with pa-nang curry, bell peppers and sweet basil. If you are interested in a more traditional curry, try either the beef in matsaman curry or chicken in green curry. Both are redolent with Thai spices and filled with richness by the addition of coconut milk.

Well-known Thai food such as bagoong rice, pad Thai (still the best pad Thai in town), chicken in lemongrass and pad kee mao (stir-fried pork) are also best-sellers.

Oody’s has a reasonably extensive wine list. It also serves a full range of cocktails. There are some excellent infusions made with local herbs and spices on the menu. Lemongrass iced tea, for example, is an excellent health drink especially this summer.

Oody’s Thai Rice, Noodles & Bar restaurant has been serving authentic and traditional Thai dishes for eight years now. Oody’s accepts reservations, caterings and pick up orders. Located at second floor, Greenbelt 3 Ayala Ave., Makati City. Call 757-4259 or SMS 0922-8784551.
