Chinese New Year specials at Peking Garden

-
A most auspicious date among the Chinese is the celebration of the new year, in accordance with the lunar calendar. With 12 animals representing each year, the Year of the Monkey begins on Jan. 22. To start the year right, it is imperative that the Chinese gather the whole family and friends to partake of the first lucky meal of the year. This is to ensure good luck and prosperity, a belief that dates back to ancient times.

Peking Garden, which serves fine northern Chinese cuisine, makes sure that all the items that comprise its "lucky" set menu good for 12 persons to welcome the Year of the Monkey has all the elements of luck in each of the dishes. The set menu has four kinds of appetizers, shark’s fin soup with fish lip and golden mushrooms, its famous Peking duck, prawns with sweet and spicy sauce, braised dried oysters with sea moss and lettuce, steamed Norway golden carp fish, deep fried peppercorn crabs, two-tone rice topping, steamed supreme soup and pork dumplings and chilled mango shake with sago for dessert, all at the special price of P9,338+.

An affiliate of Maxim’s Restaurants Hong Kong, Peking Garden is at the second floor, Glorietta 2, Ayala Center, Makati City, with back entrance through the second floor bridgewalk of Park Square 2 Carpark. For details, call 817-9066, 817-9067 or 817-9130.
