Give your bra a lift

-

Gravity, breastfeeding, and age are some of the major reasons for breasts to sag or lose their natural shape. And now, women have the option to restore and maintain firm breasts without the temporary results of a traditional breast lift.

Breform is a revolutionary breast support system in the form of a permanent internal bra that is surgically implanted. This innovative procedure provides instant, long-term results, enhancing the appearance and increasing the confidence of medium-to-large breasted women who suffer from sagging and uneven breasts.

The Breform procedure involves laying a lightweight mesh over the chest and anchoring or attaching it to the ribs to lift the breasts.

“Breform is basically placing a soft bra inside, instead of outside, the breasts. It’s an excellent alternative to the classical breast lift or mastopexy as the procedure-of-choice for sagging breasts,” says Dr. Alfred Callanta, one of the managing physicians of IPrime Center for Surgical Aesthetics, where the first Breform procedure in the Philippines was performed.

“With the classical breast lift or mastopexy, the results are not long-lasting. Some patients report drooping as early as one year after the procedure,” he says. “Also, mastopexy leaves long scars from the breast to the nipple; if the skin has poor elasticity, the scar marks will get larger.”

The Breform mesh, on the other hand, remains within the patient’s breasts for the rest of her lifetime. This is a more practical, cost-efficient, and long-term solution for women who wish to have natural and youthful-looking breasts.

Unlike the artificial feel of implants, Breform is as thin and light as a feather. There is no breast hardening and it can’t be felt underneath the skin. It provides a natural feel and does not impair any regular breast examination methods, or affect any possible future surgical procedures, such as lump removal.

Though soft, it’s made of a strong material called medical polyester, a biocompatible synthetic material that has been used in cardiovascular and other surgeries for over 40 years. Manufactured by Aspide Médical in St Etienne, France, Breform is resistant to bacterial growth, has no known side effects, and no allergic reactions have been reported.

Because the Breform mesh is placed under the skin, there is minimal scarring. Once the skin is draped over the mesh, the mesh helps keep the skin in place, preventing stretching and decreasing tension. This in turn, prevents the scar from getting any bigger.

The procedure takes three to six hours and patients can usually leave the center after several hours of rest or have the option to stay overnight in one of IPrime’s recovery rooms. Breform is recommended for women of post-childbearing age and must be in their ideal, stable weight.

Aside from Dr. Callanta, IPrime’s managing physicians are Drs. Joselito “Lito” Alava and Edwin “Buboy” del Rosario, all of whom are plastic surgeons competent in both reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. They have all trained abroad and have years of experience in different hospital-based and independent cosmetic surgery centers.

IPrime Center for Surgical Aesthetics has two operating rooms and three recovery rooms for performing a comprehensive range of cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries.
