Need a beauty regimen? Go with the flaw

STYLE S.O.S. - Tingting Cojuangco -
Hi Lucy!
First of all, I’d like to say how beautiful you were on Bahay Mo Ba ’To, where you were with your husband Richard Gomez. You were really glowing! May I know what your beauty routine is? How many times a month should I go to the salon and derma and what services should I avail myself of?
Skye

It really depends on your needs. If you have good skin and have already found the right products for yourself, then you can basically go to the derma only as needed. If you have problem skin though, your derma may require you to see him/her more often. For the salon, I suggest you go more regularly. That way, you will never be caught with unkempt toe and finger nails, which you must never take for granted. The fact that other people do not instantly see them is no excuse to neglect them.

My beauty regimen is simple. I use Obagi because it really works for me; I do not have to use a concealer anymore, just powder and lipgloss. Good skin really simplifies everything so before you even begin to think of buying products that promise to cover this or that flaw, work on getting clear skin first. You will be surprised at how little you actually need. I go to Belo once a week for my favorite facial treatments, namely Jet Peel, Skin Master, and the Obagi oxygen facial. I just alternate these treatments. They work wonderfully in keeping my skin clear all the time. When I do break out, I go to Dr. Sylvia Huang and, in an instant, she solves my skin problem. She also has this resorcin sulfur and clindamycin solutions that work like magic. I always stock up on these. I go to Fix salon for my manicure, pedicure, and hair treatments; Hairworks salon for brow grooming. Jas of Hairworks cuts my hair. Alex Carbonell of Fix is also very good. And so is Henri Calayag. Stay beautiful and happy!

Why Aloe’s Vera Good For The Skin
Dear Mary,
I’ve been hearing about aloe vera from a lot of my beauty-conscious friends who swear by it. Is it really that good? What exactly are its beauty benefits?
Amina

Aloe vera has been used since the time of Cleopatra. It thrives in the hot climate of Africa, but it can grow just as happily on your window sill at home. Known for its soothing qualities, it is used to treat burns and wounds. Aloe vera has incredible moisturizing properties, improving the skin’s ability to hydrate itself and aiding in the removal of dead skin cells. Its components are found to reverse degenerative skin changes by stimulating collagen and elastin synthesis, thus fighting skin aging. It’s no wonder that aloe vera is one of the most important ingredients in the cosmetic industry.

The Skinny On Facials
Dear Tingting,
I’m a big fan of skin improvement. I’m curious about beauty salons offering facials. It is okay to have a facial even if you don’t have pimples? The problem is I have big pores. I’m afraid that if I get a facial, pimples will start appearing. What facial salon would you recommend?
Clueless

I’ve never had a facial in all my life for the same reason that you haven’t. I don’t want manipulation of my face. Why disturb what looks good and is healthy? But if you really must have a facial, try the Belo Medical Group (its main clinic is on Amorsolo St., Legaspi Village, Makati City with tel. nos. 817-7178 and 817-9283.)
