Let the bride shine on her wedding day

STYLE S.O.S. - Tingting Cojuangco -
Dear Lucy,

I’ll be attending a wedding and I’m one of the bridesmaids. This is my first time to be included as a secondary sponsor. Motif of the wedding is red wine. I have fair complexion. What’s the appropriate jewelry to use? – Honeypearl

Usually, the designer will suggest that the bridal entourage adopt a certain look, meaning aside from having gowns in complementary colors, your hairstyle and make-up will probably be done in similar fashion. That goes for shoes and accessories as well. Should that not be the case for this particular one and you are given a free hand on what accessories to use, I’d say diamond or pearl studs would be the way to go. Keep it simple yet elegant. That way, you will blend prettily with the rest and not call attention to yourself. Remember, a wedding is always the bride’s time to shine. – Lucy

Eyebrow Restorer
>Hi Lucy And Mary!

We read your column today about Maricar’s overplucked eyebrow problem and lf’s query on lice-free shampoo. Overplucking eyebrows has been a problem for me, too. Maybe she’d like to check out this herbal shop I discovered at the third floor of Robinsons Galeria on Ortigas called Sure Grow Center, where I bought an organic eyebrow restorer that grew back my overplucked eyebrows in less than a month. I also use their herbal shampoo and conditioner, which has stopped my dandruff and falling hair. "lf" might want to try the herbal shampoo on her kids because it is also recommended for lice prevention.

Hope this helps Maricar and "lf". – Mara Dizon

Zapping Varicose Veins
Dear Mary,

I have this problem with my left leg because of varicose veins. I’ve been told by my mom that it’s inborn and I have no choice but to accept it. Mom said the varicose veins were the side effects of the pills she took when I was still in her womb. For 20 years, I accepted my predicament and tried not to be conscious about it until I thought of the advent of technology. Maybe now there’s a way of getting rid of these veins. I’m the outgoing type and I really want to wear shorts. Any clinic you can recommend? Do I have to undergo surgery? Is it costly? – Denice

The best thing to do is to see a dermatologist. There is an operation that will get rid of varicose veins. Try Dr. Sylvia Jacinto at 1311 Batangas St., Makati with telephone number 894-3952 or the Belo Medical Group Inc. with main clinic at Suite 901 Medical Plaza, Amorsolo corner dela Rosa Sts., Legaspi Village, Makati, telephone numbers 817-7178 and 817-9283. Meanwhile, buy a jar of Covermark or a cream that will cover the veins effectively like a concealer and apply where the veins are, rubbing it in well. Finish with a dusting of powder to keep the concealer from rubbing off. – Mary
