How to have a fine nose minus a nose job

Dear Mary,
I am not bad looking – except for my nose, I think I’m fine. It’s the typical Filipino nose – you know, flat. I don’t want to have a nose job because everyone knows that you have had one. Can you suggest some alternatives?

Get a foundation or even an eye shadow in a shade darker than your skin and spread it on either side of your nose. Be sure it’s evenly spread. The effect is that you will have a finer nose.

Put your robe on. It’s modest and proper and you won’t catch a cold. Then you can remove your robe when you go back to the beach and the sun.

Ît takes so little to make a child happy. Your child would feel just as much joy if you do some fun activities together at home. Arts and crafts perhaps? And they love it even more when you display their work somewhere in the house to show off to friends and relatives. How about putting together a craft box? You can start by getting the sturdiest shoe box you have at home (men’s shoe boxes are nice) and individually covering the top and bottom parts with plain craft paper. Then give it to your son for him to decorate any way he wants to – with drawings, stickers, let him even personalize it by helping him write his name on the cover. Use this box to store all his art materials. And when you go to the mall, instead of buying toys to reward him, encourage him instead to get more art materials to fill up his box – kid-friendly scissors, metallic pens, glitters, colored glue, art paper. Come weekends, when you have time together, you can then explore the endless possibilities of creating art projects that not only will both of you enjoy but will also have lasting memories for you to keep. Lovingly compile all his artwork and when he grows up, I’m sure he will appreciate that as a special token of love from you.
