Steps Dance Center offers Pilates
MANILA, Philippines - Steps Dance Center, one of the most innovative and creative dance studios in the country, now offers private one-hour classes on the Pilates method with Certified Pilates Instructor and former principal ballet dancer Brando Miranda as teacher. The Pilates class is in keeping with Steps’ commitment to offer a holistic approach to dance education and increase the technical proficiency of its students.
Pilates is a safe and excellent form of exercise for any person, and can greatly benefit dancers and athletes. A low-impact method of physical and mental conditioning, Pilates is an ideal form of cross training for dancers as it enhances their dance training. According to Steps founder and managing director Sofia Zobel-Elizalde, “More and more dance schools around the world encourage dancers to take Pilates to complement their daily training routine. It works tremendously on core strength, flexibility, and can build strength in certain muscles that are difficult to tap such as ankles, inner thighs, and shoulder blades, among many others. It is also very useful for athletes and dancers who have injuries as it can work the body without putting pressure in the injured areas.â€
A Certified Level 5+ Instructor, Brando Miranda received his Pilates certification under the tutelage of Juanita Lopez, Master Instructor Trainer of Romana’s Pilates at The Pilates Method Studio, Australia’s certifying center for Romana’s Pilates in 2003. He has been returning to Sydney since for his continuing professional education under Romana’s Pilates Master Instructor Trainer Cynthia Lochard.
Pilates at Steps is open to dance students, athletes, and anyone who wants to make the most of their exercise regimen. One-on-one classes are offered to allow the training to suit the client’s personal needs while ensuring comfort and privacy.
