Epy Quizon graduates college 30 years after pausing studies

MANILA, Philippines — Actor Epy Quizon finally earned his degree three decades after pausing his studies.
Epy posted photos of himself wearing a toga outside the St. La Salle Hall of De La Salle University in Manila on his Instagram account.
The actor only needed to complete a thesis back in 1996 in order to graduate from school, however as he indicated in one of his captions, "fear and circumstance pulled him away, and survival became more important."
"But you made a promise. Through work, loss, responsibility, and time, that promise stayed quietly in your heart," Epy continued, noting that while his father Dolphy was no longer around, his 80-year-old mother Pamela "Alice Smith" Ponti would witness the milestone.
"Today, you return — not as the young man who left, but as someone steadier, stronger, and faithful to his word," he said. "This diploma is more than paper. It is a promise kept. A prayer answered. A legacy for your children. It was never too late."
Epy echoed the same words in his other post about his graduation being a fulfilled promise. He added that this milestone honors his late father Dolphy's memory and is an apt gift for his mother Alice.
The actor said that his recent feat showcases perseverance as a trait of the Quizon siblings, and it is his proof to his children that vows are sacred.
"This diploma is more than paper. It is integrity made visible. It is endurance framed on a wall," Epy continued. "It is the legacy you leave to your children and that it is never too late to finish what you start, never too late to rise again, never too late to become the person you once promised to be."
Zsa Zsa Padilla, Claudine Barretto, Chef Rolando Laudico, and director Raymond Red congratulated Epy on his latest achievement.
