Charting your luck in the Year of the Black Snake
As we welcome 2025, the Year of the Black Snake, many of us are curious about what the months ahead hold for us. Recently, on "Pamilya Talk," I had the pleasure of hosting Feng Shui Master Ang, who shared his insights about the year ahead. I’m happy to find that his advice wasn’t just about charms and symbols, but also a call for mindfulness, positivity, and effort in facing life’s challenges.
The Black Snake symbolizes resilience, but also warns of hostility and challenges. Master Ang emphasized that the year may bring negative energies, requiring us to remain vigilant against greed and negativity, whether in our personal relationships or other broader events in our society. Political and economic shakeups may also be in store, so preparedness is a key. But amid these challenges lies an opportunity: with extra effort and a positive outlook, 2025 can still be a fulfilling year for all of us.
Welcoming the New Year right
One of the simplest yet most impactful steps we can take, according to Master Ang, is to clean and declutter, and not just our homes but also our personal belongings. Decluttering our wallets, bags, and even gadgets can symbolize making space for new opportunities and good fortune!
Master Ang also underscored the importance of fostering positivity as we greet the new year. Simple acts like preparing favorite family dishes, keeping our homes well-lit, and focusing on joyful moments with loved ones can help ward off the negative energy associated with the Black Snake. However, he cautioned against overindulging in alcohol during celebrations, which can dampen the positive start we aim for.
When it comes to traditional practices, such as the display of round fruits on New Year’s Eve, Master Ang shared that 6 or 8 fruits – rather than the usual 12 – can be just as lucky, so long as they are still round-shaped to symbolize prosperity and wholeness.
Zodiac forecasts for 2025
For those eager to know what the year holds for their Zodiac Animal, Master Ang provided a glimpse into our fortunes in 2025.
Rat: Career opportunities abound, but success still requires hard work.
Ox: A brighter year awaits after a challenging 2024 for you.
Tiger: Challenges may arise, so tread carefully in all aspects of life.
Rabbit: Trust cautiously, but overall, your luck is promising.
Dragon: A fortunate year ahead marks a welcome change from past difficulties.
Snake: Even if it is the year’s symbol, fortune may still be elusive, so proceed with caution!
Horse: Luck is divided – strong in the first half, but weaker in the latter. Plan wisely.
Goat: Your stellar luck continues from 2024, so remember that consistency is key.
Monkey: Your wit will still be your greatest asset, but caution is needed.
Rooster: Hard work will finally pay off with better fortune.
Dog: After a rough 2024, things will look up in 2025. (I’m thrilled about this forecast, as someone born in the Year of the Dog myself!)
Pig: Opposite the Snake, the Pig could be facing the most challenging year among all the signs, but optimism and effort can turn things around.
Master Ang also revealed that the lucky colors for 2025 are blue, green, yellow, orange, and brown, with the number 8 standing out as particularly auspicious.
The truth about lucky charms and practices
Our discussion also touched on the role of charms and rituals in inviting good fortune. From Lucky Cats to Evil Eye charms and Wu Lou pendants, Master Ang reminded us to choose wisely and avoid being swayed by overpriced items or dubious claims. In fact, something as simple as using salt for cleansing can already help promote positive energy.
