'My world, biggest blessing': Paris Hilton defends infant son from 'big head' comments
SINGAPORE — Socialite-television personality Paris Hilton has come to the defense of her infant son Phoenix, who several Internet users pointed out supposedly had a large head for a baby.
Earlier this week, Paris posted a photo of herself with Phoenix on Instagram as it was her son's first time in New York City.
While a number of individuals found the mother and son posting together adorable, there were some netizens who decided to talk about the size of Phoenix's head in the comments section.
One comment said Phoenix "had a lot on his mind," while others compared him to fictional characters like Professor Charles Xavier from "X-Men," Stewie Griffin from "Family Guy," and the titular character from "Megamind."
In response to such remarks, Paris shared a statement expressing her love and vow of protection for Phoenix.
"Living life in the spotlight, comments are inevitable, but targeting my child, or any one else's for that matter, is unaceptable," Paris began, admitting feeling hurt despite efforts to cultivate a positive environment.
Paris contrasted not posting about her son might make it appear she wasn't a good mother, but when she does there are people who choose to be "cruel and hateful."
She noted that she was a proud working mother and that Phoenix — welcomed last January with her husband Carter Reum via surrogacy — was perfectly healthy, adorable, and angelic.
"I've dreamt of being a mom for as long as I can remember. Phoenix is my world and has been the biggest blessing of my life," continued Paris. "Every day with him is a reminder of what truly matters. It's hard to fathom that there are people in the world who would target such innocence."
Paris ended with hopes that people would treat each other with more kindness and empathy.
