Rupert Grint to reprise Ron Weasley in 'Harry Potter' stage show
MANILA, Philippines — British actor Rupert Grint is set to reprise his iconic role of Ron Weasley next year in the Broadway production "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child."
Grint famously played the red-haired best friend of the titular character in the eight movies of the film franchise from 2001 to 2011.
The move follows his co-star Tom Felton reprising his role as Draco Malfoy in the production set 19 years after the events of the last book and movie.
It was Felton's Broadway debut, whereas this will be Grint's second time on the Great White Way after starring in "It's Only A Play" back in 2014.

Unfortunately, the two stars won't be acting together in their adult versions as Felton's engagement at the Lyric Threatre ends on January 3, 2027, while Grint's limited run begins a month later until May 30.
Grint acknowledged in a statement that Ron has been a part of him since he was 11 years old. The actor added that he was excited to "meet him again in this stage of life."
"There is something so full-circle and so special about stepping back into Ron’s shoes now when we are both fathers; it is somehow both very familiar and completely new," he added, reflecting on his Broadway return and seeing "Cursed Child" in the past.
Grint last appeared in the fantasy horror film "Nightborn," which premiered at the latest Berlinale. He will next be seen in "Ebenezer" with Johnny Depp.
