Bars behind bars: Hev Abi performs in Quezon City Jail
MANILA, Philippines — Rapper Gabriel Abilla, more popularly known as Hev Abi, kept spirits up while inside Quezon City jail by performing for fellow inmates.
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Quezon City Jail-Male Dormitory posted a video of Abi, identifiable through his tattoos despite a blurred face, singing at the opening ceremony of National Correctional Consciousness Week.
The artist performed his hit songs such as "Babaero" and "Alam Mo Ba Girl," where even fellow inmates watching sang along.
Other popular tracks by the rapper include "Para Sa Streets," "WELCOME2DTQ," "QC Girl," "Walang Alam," and "Lil Kasalanan Shortie."
Abi was arrested last April with six other individuals by Quezon City authorities who were acting on a search warrant for firearms.
He has over five million monthly listeners on the audio streaming platform Spotify, which named him the Top Local Artist in 2024.
