Barbie Forteza reiterates cheaters don't deserve second chances
MANILA, Philippines — Actress Barbie Forteza doubled down on her belief that individuals who cheat on their significant others shouldn't get another chance to redeem themselves.
Barbie was the guest on the August 28, 2026 episode of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" to promote her upcoming movie "Saving Cherry" and series "Honor The Mother."
Before going on commercial break, Boy brought up a recent press conference where Barbie brought up some arguably controversial takes, including those who cheat on partners and how they don't deserve a second chance.
The actress explained she was raised to value oneself, which she does, even spoiling herself every now and then.
"Ganun ko kamahal 'yung sarili ko. So loving another person na hindi ko kadugo, hindi ko kaano-ano, wala akong obligasyon para sa taon 'yun 'tas niloko mo ko, bakit?" Barbie posited.
Barbie reiterated what a waste it would be choosing to be with a person after knowing the value of her time and attention.
Boy emphatized with actress on her thought processs, though she added such beliefs extend as well to any circumstance that would make her feel like she's been treated less.
"Binigay ko yung sarili ko sa'yo, oras ko, pagmamahal ko most importantly, tapos binetray mo trust ko, so bakit?" Barbie said, which the host also agreed with.
Barbie and Boy then shared a light moment where the actress confirmed she was "officially single" at the time of the episode.
Divorce learnings
The host also brought up what Barbie said at the same press conference, how she was at the stage of her life where she is "dating-to-marry," a statement she walked back, and opting for a Las Vegas wedding so that divorce may be an option.
At the time, Barbie referenced Nevada's divorce laws. Divorce remains unavailable for most couples in the Philippines.

The remarks sparked conversation online, with lawyer-producer Joji Alonso pointing out online that obtaining a divorce abroad would not automatically dissolve the marriage under Philippine law if both spouses remain Filipino citizens.
Alonso explained that the Philippines follows the "nationality principle," where Filipino citizens remain subject to Philippine family laws regardless of where they marry or obtain a divorce.
A divorce, though obtained by a foreign spouse, may be recognized by Philippine courts under certain circumstances.
Boy brought up Alonso's explanation, which he admitted everyone learned from, including Barbie and her mother Amy.
The host also attributed the influence of "easy marriage" in Las Vegas resulted from movies and shows in the United States before he and Barbie recounted what Alonso had said, prompting Boy to ask if Barbie was dating a foreigner.
