MANILA, Philippines — Actress Carla Guevara-Laforteza expressed her gratitude to the management of global girl group Katseye for giving her daughter Sophia, the pop act's leader, some much-needed time to rest.

Katseye's labels, Hybe and Geffen Records, announced earlier this month that Sophia would be temporarily stepping away from promotional activities to focus on her mental health.

"While Sophia herself is eager to perform alongside her members, the health, safety, and long-term well-being of our artists will always remain our highest priority," the agencies said.

Carla spoke to members of the media, including Philstar.com, after the media briefing for her upcoming production "The Notebook: The Musical" to give more updates about her daughter.

"This is what I love about her management, they recognize when the girls are tired. They all work equally hard," the actress said.

For Sophia's case as the leader, Carla also pointed to her daughter also being a Capricon which is why she "super, super, super super relates to her." Carla was born the day after Christmas, while Sophia's birthday is New Year's Eve.

"I know exactly what she's feeling, what's happening in her brain and body," she continued. "Ako, I have the luxury kasi when I'm tired, I can [choose] not to do the next show. Siya hindi kasi mayroong responsibilities to Eyekons (fans of Katseye)."

Carla shared that her daughter has been really tired, thus it was good that Sophia is currently on a break. The actress, however, did not give a definitive answer on when Sophia would resume activities with Katseye.

"Okay, I will be very honest, I don't ask her [about such things]," Carla said while pointing and waving her hands, explaining again their Capricorn star sign backgrounds.

Instead, Carla lets her daughter be. Carla just chooses to be present as a mother, asking things like "What do you need?," "What can I do for you?," and "How can I help?"

"I do that instead of saying, 'Hoy, ano na nangyayari sa'yo?! What's gonna happen?! I don't do that," the actress added.

Katseye is temporarily down two members after Manon Bannerman also went on hiatus earlier this year for well-being reasons. The Swiss-Ghanaian has not participated in group activities since February.

Remaining Katseye members Lara Raj, Daniela Avanzini, Jeung Yoon-chae, and Megan Skiendiel will kick off the group's second world tour promoting their new extended play "Wild" next month.

"The Notebook: The Musical" begins its run at Makati's Samsung Performing Arts Theater on September 3.
