Sam Concepcion, KD Estrada join 'Bongga Ka Day' musical

MANILA, Philippines — The upcoming "Bongga Ka, 'Day!: The Annie Batungbakal Musical" has made its first casting decision.
KD Estrada will take on the role of Burn while Sam Concepcion, Jeff Moses, and Anthony Rosaldo will alternate as Romer.
Burn is a down-to-earth folk-rock cover artist who dreams of stardom through original music. Determined at the personal goal, he embarks on a journey to a big break while balancing stability and his passion.
Romer, on the other hand, is described as a flirty and self-assured man who knows he's handsome and worldly. He is the only son of a well-off family who works as a flight attendant but also does photography.
Concepcion is a multi-hyphenate artist whose theater experience includes "One More Chance: The Musical," "Once on This Island," "High School Musical," "Peter Pan" and "Joseph the Dreamer."

Moses and Estrada are no stranger to the Newport Performing Arts Theater, where the production will run this September and October, as both starred in "Bagets the Musical" which was also Moses' stage debut.
Estrada made his stage debut in 2023 for "Walang Aray" while Rosaldo — a former "The Clash" finalist — debuted on the Newport stage for "Ang Huling El Bimbo" then followed up with a revival of "Rent."
"Bongga Ka, 'Day!" based on the songs of the Manila Sound band Hotdog was supposed to be staged six years ago but was postponed due to the pandemic.
"Bagets" producers Newport World Resorts, VIVA Communications, and The Philippine STAR will once again team up for this production that will feature other Hotdog hits like "Manila," "Pers Lab," "Beh, Buti Nga," "Panaginip," "O, Lumapit Ka" and "Ikaw ang Miss Universe ng Buhay Ko."
The '70s-Manila set musical will follow the titular ambitious sales clerk who sneaks into the glamorous disco scene to chase her dream of becoming a fashion designer and risks losing herself in the process.
