Who wouldn’t want to age gracefully?

We will all age. That is life’s natural process. But if we could age beautifully and gracefully, who wouldn’t want that? Recently, I have started using a new skin care line, Biorica.
Biorica is the first and only skin care product line to use the salivary extract of Hirudo medicinalis, the scientific name of the medicinal leech. It has filed patents for certain unique active agents extracted from this type of leech whose properties have been found to be of great value in the cosmetic and skin care sector.
The medicinal leech has been used in medical applications for centuries due to its therapeutic virtues and still continues to be used today as a modern applied therapy in hospitals around the world for patient having received microsurgical reimplantation, in plastic surgery and in skin grafts.
Leeches are particularly useful in surgeries to reattach body parts such as fingers, toes or ears since their enzymes prompt the neo-genesis of capillaries that are impossible to stitch, restoring blood flow to reconnected veins and ensuring good quality healing. They have anti-inflammatory action and are very well tolerated by man since they are also hypoallergenic. In year 2003, German researchers have reported that the application of leeches to arthritic knees beat out a popular medication when it came to reducing joint pain. And in a preliminary study, Indian researchers say they’ve used leeches to treat especially difficult cases of varicose veins. In some parts of the world, they’ve used it to treat black eyes.
The salivary extract contains some very valuable enzymes including hirudin, the most powerful anti-coagulant in existence, used as an active ingredient to restore or favor local microcirculation. Another enzyme, eglin, is a potent anti-oxidant which effectively fights the process of human skin aging.
Biorica, created in 1992 in partnership with Ricarimpex, is the European leader in Hirudo. Medicinalis has developed a range of skin care products after many years of research in collaboration with the only medicinal leech breeding farm in Europe, situated near Bordeaux, France. By carefully combining the unique enzymatic agents known as Hm1, Hm2 and Hm3, the research team at Biorica has demonstrated their highly beneficial effects on microcirculation and the efficacy of their skin care range.
• Hm1 (cream form) contains a regular concentration of the salivary extract (prevention & maintenance line).
• Hm2 (anti-stress effervescent pebbles) contains a processed concentration of the salivary extract.
• Hm3 (serum form) contains the highest concentration of the salivary extract (treatment & cure line).

The anti-age revolution range targets, in priority, women of a mature age who often have dry, dehydrated skin. This is composed of seven skin care products, each with specific indication, face, eye contour, lip contour, neck and shoulders, hands, anti-red blotches and anti-age spots.
The face care range is for everyday use and for all skin types. This range is composed of seven face care – out of which three are day care products, three are eye contour products and one is a night cream.
The body care range comprises of effervescent anti-stress bath stones in two formulas: relaxing and stimulating; a soothing leg cream and spray for toning heavy legs; two hand care products and a soothing foot care product.
The leg toning spray and cream contain camphor and menthol as well as Hm 1 or GALPA. The spray can be used through stockings, tights, support stockings and socks. It does not stain and gives a feeling of comfort for several hours.
In addition, Biorica has added:
Face cleansing products: a range of makeup removing products, makeup removing toning lotion, two-in-one makeup removing gel, gentle makeup removing milk, eye makeup removing water for sensitive eyes.
Specific targeted products: self-tanning sun milk, soothing gel for face skin problems and an anti-age spot lightening cream.
The following are what I have started to use for about three weeks now. Let me tell you the wonders these products are doing to my skin.
From Biorica’s anti-age line, I have been using the neckline serum, the anti-age eye and lip contour serum and the anti-pigmentation serum.
The neckline serum is one product I really wanted to try. At my age of 42, the area in my neck is one I feel I need to give attention to. It is the area I’ve noticed that is not as firm as it used to be.
The neckline serum treats neckline skin, often made fragile over time and by repeated exposure to the harmful rays of the sun which leads to sagging skin and aging. I’ve been using it for only three weeks and already the skin in my neck area is already better moisturized and firmer.
The anti-pigmentation serum is a skin lightening treatment to fade "age spots" or skin discoloration (brown or dark spots, and prevent their reappearance on the face, neck and hand. It contains the latest active biological depigmenting ingredient of plant origin known as Clariskin II which has the property of preventing and reducing the occurrence of "age spots."
I am mestiza and have freckles on my face because of sun exposure. After using this for about three weeks, applying it twice a day, my freckles have lightened in color. I apply it to my neck and hands as well.
The anti-age eye and lip contour serum lightens dark under eye circles and reduces puffiness (eye bags). It treats the finest wrinkles around the eyes and lips.
The lines around my eyes, on the side and around my lip area are the most visible. This serum has done me wonders in the shortest time. I look closely at the lines in my eye and lip area and they are dramatically less deep. It has lightened my under eye circles, too. Amazing!
Because the anti-age line is for treatment and cure, I have been advised to use it for a month first, allowing it to work on my skin. If I feel I still need it, I can go back to it after a month or so. During the time I do not use it, I just continue using the care line which is for everyday use and for all skin types.
Biorica’s face care line is what I am currently using as my maintaining skin care. For my day cream I use revitalizing nourishing care. This is particularly suited for dry and sensitive skin. It corrects blemishes due to pollution and substances harmful for the epidermis, which it protects by preventing the development of wrinkles. It is good as a makeup base and contains HM 1, wheat germ oil, sesame oil, shea butter, Vit. A, B5, E, UVA and UVB filters.
For my night cream, I use anti-aging restructuring night cream. This night cream is suited for dry skin lacking suppleness. It restores suppleness and moisture to the skin. It stimulates cell renewal. It contains HM 1, olive oil (organic) DNA, marine collagen and elastin, extract of gota, kola, beech bud and Vit. E.
Under the Body Care Line, I am currently using their Well Being hand care. This product moisturizes and softens the hands thereby combating dryness and roughness. It contains HM 1, grape seed oil, olive oil (organic) shea butter (rich in natural allantoin, carotene, Vit. E) glycerin and sun filters.
In this cleansing line, their two-in-one cleansing gel and tonic cleansing water both clear and purify the skin while respecting its hydro lipidic balance. It contains rose water (10 percent) to smooth the skin and cornflower extra (10 percent) to soothe and unblocked the pores of the most sensitive skin.
The Tonic Cleansing Water, on the other hand, softens and purifies the skin of the face and neck, giving it a smooth clean look. It contains St. John’s Wort (two percent) to smooth the skin and glycerin to nourish and moisturize.
