MANILA, Philippines - The word “custom” is nearly ubiquitous when it comes to talk of weddings and bridal gowns. Young couturier and bridal designer Vania Romoff is set to challenge that notion with a line of ready-to-wear bridal gowns (available off-the-rack and with intimate fittings) for today’s more discerning bride.

In a sea of optics — whites and semi-opaque champagnes — Romoff explores the traditional line and silhouette of a bridal gown but reinterprets these with her signature contemporary romanticism, and a deft hand at unabashed femininity. A soft-sculpted bodice is cinched into the column of a serpentina skirt, a fitted sabrina neckline is elegantly undone with a low back, full-lace gowns are corseted into sweetheart necklines — and Vania’s signature fluted hems, dramatic trains and billowing sleeves are also fully represented.

“I wanted to tap into a niche of brides who want to be able to pick and choose gowns from off-the-rack,” shares Romoff. “It’s practical for brides who do not yet have a distinct idea of what they want or what suits them for the big day.” The concept is the Old World idea of a bridal salon and is strictly by-appointment-only. “I wanted to give the modern bride the option of just that: having ready options. To have a ready visual and a tactile moment with your dream gown can only be a good thing.”

In this YStyle exclusive, Vania Romoff’s enlists lensman BJ Pascual to shoot her new line of bridal gowns in this Andalusian-inspired fantasy.
