Art Fair hangover
MANILA, Philippines - Last weekend kept everyone’s social calendars filled to the brim. While most of the younger set spent the days living it up at either Feb Fest or 7107 IMF, the Art Fair quietly garnered its fair share of attendees and Instagram posts. Everyone from artistas to art collectors (some of whom flew in from all over Asia), magazine editors to grandparents on their weekend date, all passed by to see the very best of contemporary Filipino art. The annual Art Fair, a pop-up collective of some of Manila’s best galleries (such as Altro Mundo, Nova, Blanc and Silverlens, just to name a few), took up two floors of The Link’s car park from Wednesday to Sunday for the cultural event of the season. Just as mixed as the crowd it attracted were the artists whose work was showcased. From some of the most established names (hi, BenCab!) to promising up-and-comers, the Art Fair made it very, very clear that Filipino art remains as dynamic—and thriving—as ever.
