MANILA, Philippines - Every now and then, we are reminded that there will likely never be another Anna Wintour in the publishing industry, at least not for a long while. The most recent reminder came earlier this week when the Metropolitan Museum of Art decided to rename, oh, just the entire Costume Institute exhibition space “The Anna Wintour Costume Design Center.” The fashion world’s most feared and revered figure has been a trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art since 1999 as a benefit chair and fundraiser and has been largely credited for reviving public and social interest in the Costume Institute Gala, which has raised $125 million for the Costume Institute alone. In addition to that, she has held several fundraisers for the two-year renovation of the Costume Institute, which will cost nearly $40 million. According to The New York Times, the space “will include a newly designed 4,200-square-foot main gallery; an updated costume conservation laboratory; and expanded study and storage facilities.” And now, that is what all future US Vogue editors in chief will have to live up to.

Comeback girls

If you’re anything like me, you totally spazzed at the thought of Girls coming back for season three and if you’re also pretty clueless about knowing where to download episodes (in which case, you’re exactly like me), you’re in luck because the Asian premiere is just within a week of the show’s debut in the U.S. On Jan. 19, HBO Asia will be showing the two-episode season opener at 10 p.m. featuring more awkward sex scenes, epic life f*ck-ups and Lena Dunham’s naked glory. In addition to that, you’ll also have Jenna Lyons’ cameos to look forward to and maybe even Victoria Beckham. Apparently, Posh is a huge fan of the show, which surprised Lena and inspired her to possibly create a small role for her. “I was like, ‘We’ll get to work on that!’ I’d love to see Victoria Beckham dress it down a little bit, maybe do Victoria Beckham as somebody’s adult-education teacher or something. I love her; she’s very chic and nice,” she told Vogue.co.uk. Um, how awesome would that be? Because if there’s anybody who can tell the girls how to get their shit together, it would be Victoria. And Jenna. And based on this week's news, Anna Wintour.

Heir apparent

Watch it, Cara Delevingne. Back in 2011, Kate Moss got married to — whatshisface? — Jamie Hince (a.k.a. not Pete Doherty) and top model agent Carole White told the Evening Standard that Kate’s younger sister, Lottie, who was part of the wedding entourage, looked “beautiful and fresh — a very English rose look” and “could definitely make a model.” While Miss White is credited for launching Naomi Campbell’s career, perhaps the comment was to compensate for the fact that it was she who famously turned down the older Moss for being too short. Big mistake, huge. At the time, Lottie was just 13 years old and her mother, wary of what had become of her older daughter, said, “She’s too young (to model professionally). When she is old enough it will be her decision.” Now that she’s 16, she’s signed with Storm Model Management and has been shot by Andrea Carter-Bowman. We guess that’ll beat the vintage clothes her mother used to force her to “model” on the Facebook page of the Moss family store in rural West Sussex.

Passing on miley

Marc Jacobs’ latest ad campaign featuring Miley Cyrus is noticeably different, the polarizing pop star’s appearance notwithstanding. Gone are the stark lighting and the wide-eyed campaign models, seemingly caught in an unguarded moment. Instead, the spring/summer campaign is dark, brooding and well, a little devoid of the joy seen in seasons past, which probably has something to do with the fact that it wasn’t shot by Juergen Teller, Marc’s longtime photographer and collaborator. “I have worked with Juergen for years and love him as an artist,” Marc told WWD. “He just didn’t want to shoot her.” As a result, he turned to photographer David Sims, who shot his beauty line. “We all just love her and her entire being, her energy, her talent, her intelligence, everything,” Marc said. “There’s nothing I don’t like about her. She is just genuine and very natural.” While some speculate that the Teller-Jacobs separation is temporary (a.k.a. until Marc replaces Miley), in the meantime, Juergen still has the Céline, Yves Saint Laurent, Vivienne Westwood and Moschino campaigns to keep himself busy with.

Eye spy

The recently opened Ronnie and Joe Optical Salon aims to set the new standard of eyewear retail by speaking to the shopper's retail experience. As they put it, you wouldn’t ask a stylist to give you an eye examination, so why see a doctor to pick out your frames? Located on the ground floor of SM Aura Premiere in Fort Bonifacio, the staff is comprised of eyewear enthusiasts, which shouldn’t come as a surprise, since the store is the brainchild of bespectacled dandy, Mike Concepcion. “As an eyewear consumer myself, I recognized the need for a shop that would provide a variety of specialty brands and a curated experience you would not normally find in an optical store chain,” Mike says. “We look beyond fickle designer logos and define luxury through a brand’s history, heritage, craftsmanship, material, design and attention to detail.” True to form, the store carries brands like Moscot, Illesteva, Native Sons, Matsuda, Dita x Thom Browne, Ksubi, Max Pittion, Shwood, Italia Independent, Grey Ant, Karen Walker, Graphic Plastic and Barton Perreira. Meet your new optical wardrobe, four-eyes.
