Suited for summer
Memo’s spring and summer collections will get you ready for that new job.
MANILA, Philippines — Be honest: are you ready for life after school? It’s important to have the right skills and knowledge when applying for a job. But as your parents and professors have probably told you, it’s also important to look the part. Clothes make the man (or woman), Mark Twain once said, and knowing how to look professional is half the battle.
Your college wardrobe probably consists of a full suite of T-shirts, jeans and hoodies, but you should probably rethink that when you start looking for a job. We all can’t be Mark Zuckerbergs in this world. I know it sounds like you have to dress in nothing but white button-downs and black trousers and leather shoes, but you don’t have to forego your personality completely. Nobody likes a bland cookie.
Lucky for you (and me, TBH), Memo’s spring and summer collections are here. To be clear, yes, they are two separate collections. Now, before you dismiss these duds as boring officewear that your parents wear to work, not so fast: unlike many retail brands on the market, Memo has an actual design team in-house, and they control everything from start to finish. That means they can turn out custom prints, fabric innovations, and cuts and fits specifically for the Filipino market.
The spring 2018 collection takes cues from botanicals, inspired by the shapes and shades of cool green leaves, warm earth tones and sunset pinks. The summer 2018 collection, on the other hand, takes inspiration from the sky and sand. Titled “Clean Slate,” the collection is all about being light and airy while still keeping it interesting. It features a spectrum of blues from navy to sky blue, along with the colors of Cuban sand and white clouds, perfect for a fresh summer working wardrobe.
I know we’d all rather be on the beach this entire summer, but we all gotta make that dough. And this heat definitely ain’t no reason to be dressing sloppily, especially when you’re just about to make your first impression. Time to suit up.
