Seeing clearly
MANILA, Philippines - If I were given a chance to choose a superpower, I’d pick anything that has to do with having clear vision, literally and figuratively. I’ve been wearing glasses since I was eight years old, and at the time I didn’t think of it as something that would help me see clearly. I instead considered it as an annoying accessory that I had to push up every time I had to run laps during P.E.
Not having 20/20 vision sucks, and having astigmatism on top of that is the worst. I can’t recall the number of times I’ve wished I had better eyesight because I find wearing glasses just so inconvenient. Bad weather? Can’t see a thing. Eating ramen? Watch the moisture creep up. Can’t remember where you put your glasses? Good luck.
Fast forward to 12 pairs of specs and a handful of contact lenses later, I can say that I’ve seen the best and worst of these aids. I’ve tried different brands and even opted for the cheaper options. I’ve learned that investing in good frames goes a long way and, more importantly, going to an optical clinic to get your eyes checked should be always be done with a brand you trust.
Executive Optical has unfailingly provided excellent service to me since I was in grade school. EO has gained the trust of their customers because of the quality their products and services. They’re also conveniently located, easily making them the go-to eyewear store. One branch I’m particularly fond of is the MRT Ayala Station clinic; saving people a trip to the mall makes so much sense especially if they take the train every day. I went there to get my glasses repaired after work and though the shop is smaller, I’m amazed that the service was just as good as their mall branches.
And speaking of service, I’m impressed by the number of people who are ready to assist you inside the store. Aside from being approachable, they’re also patiently helpful with whatever you need. Trust me, they’ll stick with you for a bit because you’ll be needing them for a while — the wide range of frames might leave you a bit undecided. Don’t hesitate to ask which looks good on you or which pair fits your budget because they’re always ready to recommend what’s best for you.
After 20 pairs or so (there was just so much to choose from!), I finally found the frame that I liked. And though my poor eyesight demanded thick lenses, EO was able to make mine ultra-thin with added UV protection. It was a pleasant experience getting new glasses with them again — they were able to give me what I wanted and needed. Pro tip? Check their very own EO line, Seen and EO Optical eyewear. The styles look trendy yet functional and it often comes with a promo. A great steal, if you ask me.
