Live with chivalry

MEANWHILE - Michelle Katigbak -

Last year, Chivas Regal unveiled the “Live with Chivalry” campaign at the Establishment Bar in the Fort, Taguig City and had a stylish and successful turnout as the country’s most dashing and loveliest came to the event in full chivalry mode. The regional mentoring manager for Chivas Brothers Limited, Darren Hosie, flew in from Scotland and led the ceremonial toast of the evening. Guests were treated to a night of sumptuous hors d’oeuvres — and, of course, overflowing Chivas on the rocks for the men and specially-concocted Chivas cocktails for the ladies.

James and John Chivas founded the Chivas Regal brand. They were Scottish grocers from Aberdeen who produced whiskey of such great quality that in 1843 Queen Victoria herself made them suppliers to the Royal Family. Centuries later, the Chivas Brothers name remains strong and is readily associated with the most prestigious Scotch whiskies and premium gins in the world.

The highlight of the event was honoring our country’s most distinguished gentlemen who embody the values of chivalry — gallantry, brotherhood, freedom and honor — Traits embodied by mountain climber Romi Garduce, club owners Carlo Trillo, Erik Cua and Conrad Alcantara, photographer Mark Nicdao and tour guide Carlos Celdran. These men uphold the values of chivalry, which the Chivas brand is built upon. All of these men lead passionate, noble and fearless lives, embracing all the challenges and enjoying what life has to offer. Present at the event were Louie Ysmael, Allana Montelibano, Joanne Quintas, Divine Lee, Tim Yap, Mylene Dizon, Robby Carmona, Vina Morales, Maurice Arcache, Anton San Diego, Claudine Trillo and Luis Alandy among others.

The theme of the Chivas campaign is even more relevant today, as we have all recently seen and experienced global economic turmoil and environmental disasters. Materialistic and self-serving pursuits have become inappropriate, and now people are going back to basics and honoring timeless, intrinsic values. Thank God chivalry is not dead!
