THE MORNING FIGHT HOUR

- Essie Romero of Young Star Magazine -
DJs Chinggay Andrada and Boom Gonzales host the RX93.1 wakeup show Morning Rush. Imagine being on air everyday at 6 a.m.? And sounding good at that! What a bummer! So what are two ultra-charming (former "friends") to do? Well, insult each other, get on each other’s nerves, and outwit each other with their "insightful" innuendoes! But you have to admit, they’re endearing, hilarious, and intriguing.

In a showdown for Young Star Magazine, these RX93.1 front liners battle it out once again. So let the games begin…(ding!).

ROUND 1

"GETTING TO KNOW YOU"

Chinggay:
Okay Boom, tell us something about yourself…

Boom:
Well, one thing’s for sure, I’m not a morning person! Now you’re turn…

Chinggay:
Let’s see, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with a degree in Broadcast Journalism/Public Relations…

Boom:
Can’t compete with that!

Chinggay:
Like you, I’m definitely not a morning person. No more late nights for me.

Boom:
My story? I’ve always been in media. So I guess we’re the same.

Chinggay:
Yes we are! I also host a show for ABS-CBN International, and job number three is actually with Red Corner, a gym in Makati teaching kick boxing punch bag aerobics every Tuesday and Thursday 7pm. So there, that’s my life–jobs!

Boom:
I sportscast for the Philippine Basketball League and I used to do semi-correspondent work for Game Plan.

Chinggay:
How long have I known you?

Boom:
Before you got into RX.

Chinggay:
First meeting August 1998 at an RX anniversary party sa Makati, Hard Rock. And I met the whole RX staff, including Boom.

Boom:
Especially Boom!

Chinggay:
Yeah, especially Boom!

ROUND 2

"SERIOUSLY AT WORK"

Boom:
What motivates you?

Chinggay:
My motivation is to just do my best day in and day out. I don’t focus on the titles. I focus more on myself. What about you?

Boom:
Tomorrow’s another day. The biggest mistake any DJ can make is that to underestimate their listeners.

Chinggay:
Responsibility is always the key.

ROUND 3

"LOVE IS ALL AROUND OR NOT?"

Chinggay:
What turns you on in a girl?

Boom:
I like cute, chinita girls. I don’t like the drop-dead gorgeous type because it’s way out of my league. That’s like overshooting already. I like malambing types. Soft-spoken, intelligent, and assertive.

Chinggay:
For me, the art of seduction starts with a good conversation really! Being tall, dark, handsome wouldn’t hurt. How about turn-offs?

Boom:
I really don’t like the maarte type.

Chinggay:
As for me, I live a very simple life. I don’t have to dine in a five-star restaurant to have a good meal. I can eat Bacolod Chicken everyday because I’m a chicken freak.

Boom:
Good, you’re cheap!

Chinggay: I’m not that cheap, Boom! You wish!
