Cab Cafe

After having lunch at Charlie's Grind and Grill, we saw a newly opened place called Cab Café beside it. I'm curious especially with newly established eating places so close to our home. So I quickly set a lunch out with Jane, Fran and Paul, they were quite eager to get out of their offices for a quick lunch.

Jane, Irene and I arrived early and upon further inquiry about the place, found out that it originated from Bacolod, more specifically Café Bob's, from the founders of Bob's Restaurant. The staff shared with us that they all hailed from Bacolod but could not answer why they changed the name.

Jane was a little hungry so while waiting she checked out the cake display cases and picked a blueberry muffin (pic above), which sated her hunger a bit.

The Country Sausage Platter was so good we bought a pack of it to bring home. It was meaty and packed with lots of flavor with nary a hint of extenders. The size reminded me of the cocktail hotdogs I loved when I was a kid.

Linguine with Sun dried Tomatoes. Quite a good pasta dish but be warned it does contain have a little spicy kick, not big enough to deter my taste buds though.

Delipinoy Pasta. A pasta that had salted eggs, shredded tinapa flakes and fresh tomatoes. This is not something I would normally like because of the tinapa but the fresh tomatoes and salted eggs won me over.

Pizza Negrense was one of the pizzas we ordered. It had quail eggs and Negrense chorizo. When we ordered it, we were expecting the quail eggs to be the ones we were used to, hard boiled. The pizzas had a different take on quail eggs wherein fresh quail eggs where topped on the pizzas before cooking. Irene did not quite like the taste but I grew to like the more bites I had. 

Pizza with Sweet Ham and Bacon. This was Lauren's special request; not on the menu but we're glad the kitchen agreed to it, a plus in my book. This pizza looked like the 3M pizzas served during my school days.

The Strawberry Short Cake was a gorgeous cake that we were a little too hesitant to order. A quick question to the staff if getting a slice is possible and we were served one. I was expecting the cake layers to be crispy but it turned out to be soft chiffon. Even with the heaps of cream, the cake was not overly sweet.

People need not miss Bacolod's Café Bob's as they have transported everything here, including the staff. The cardboard base of their cakes proclaims their origins even if the name is a little different. Good service, yummy food and free wi-fi to boot, make for a cozy neighborhood cafe.
