Follow the sun

- Edd Fuentes -

MANILA, Philippines - Summer beckons once more and it’s the perfect time to bring out the wanderlust in you. The best destination to spend the warmest season of the year is at the beach, where you can enjoy the best of both worlds — basking under the heat of the summer sun while chilling out in the cool breeze and crystal-clear waters. Where else can you indulge in such wonderful escapade but in Boracay where the sun, sand, and sea are perennially in sync to make summer vacations always unforgettable.

Your ultimate companion in Boracay, of course, is your trusty mobile phone camera, which you can bring anywhere to capture all the best views and picturesque landscapes in the paradise island. And if you’re worried that your pictures wouldn’t turn out the way you’d hoped with this device, you don’t have to when you’re armed with the Nokia N8, which gives larger-than-life allure to your shots.

Armed with my Nokia N8, I roamed around Boracay to document all the best things that this famous island has to offer.

A trip to D’Mall never fails to excite the senses with its great local finds. (Photos taken with Nokia N8)

Strolling along the famous pristine white beaches in all its glory was at the top of the agenda. It was hard not to be infected by the energy of fun-loving beach lovers enjoying an action-packed beach soccer game or those sunbathers basking under the sun. But nothing compared to the tranquility of just walking on the powder-white sand and watching the waves hit your feet — it was truly nature at work.

D’Mall was just brimming with activity and I couldn’t help but be drawn to the sea of shoppers scouring for great local finds. It was also the perfect time to check out the new establishments to do my own little shopping. A trip to Boracay is indeed never complete without visiting this busy strip that truly pulsates with life!

The long walks at the White Beach were enough to make me call it a day. I was glad that The Sun Villas Resort and Spa, where my companions and I stayed, was just a stone’s throw away. I indulged in some peace and quiet while admiring its lush greens and well-manicured landscape as well as the trinkets adorning every nook and the large pool embellished with sun-designed tiles. There, I felt closer to nature than I’ve ever been.

Boracay’s powdery white sand with the tranquil sea as a backdrop invites beach lovers to bask under the sun.

Dusk called for more fun and adventure at the paradise island, and I began mine by going for an eat-all-you-can Mongolian Grill escapade. So I headed to the Mongolian Tent at Sun Village Central Beachfront to line up among diners who were busy concocting their very own feast. It was a steal for only P275, wherein I got to choose from the freshest meat and seafood, locally grown vegetables and a variety of sauces to create my own delish dish.

I was delighted that every shot I took of Boracay’s beauty was captured in detail with my ever-reliable camera phone. I was amazed by how easy it was to take quick, simultaneous shots, and still came up with photos that stayed vivid and dynamic as in real life.

The best part about capturing Boracay’s beauty and action was being able to instantly share my shots with my friends in real time! From my Nokia N8, I got to upload my photos instantly on Facebook and Twitter and got likes and comments instantly, too!

Truly, a Boracay vacation can easily turn into a splendid summer rendezvous with a great camera phone you can bring this summer wherever you go. Experience it, too, and discover the ease of capturing great pictures that can pass for shots taken by a real pro.
